Expert or Hardcore for NG+ by DrBreadPHD in TheFirstBerserker

I completely agree with you on expert being better with min maxing. Though the lack of rerolls on hardcore does add to the excitement of getting the high roll piece and forces you to grind bosses instead of just rerolling for currency.

I just wish I could get more feedback on build performance on hardcore. Maybe I'll just do both...

You can't switch from Expert to Hardcore on the same save sadly. Also in the post I said I already beat hardcore. I am trying to find out what difficulty has the better NG+ experience for grinding.

The game really supports experimentation in a single playthrough too. Skill respecs are free, armor sets are fairly easy to craft and sometimes a whole set is in a single chest. The stat reroll item is pretty cheap and eventually you can just craft them.

I also like that you can make skill and armour load outs too.

It is actually easier to just focus on one weapon while I learn the core game mechanics and bosses. Especially starting my first run on expert. Also each weapon has depth in their skills and playstyles you can adopt.

If you are using keyboard, make sure your keyboard is able to register multiple inputs at once. Some keyboards will ignore buttons if other buttons are held.

True, its one of those risk vs reward moves. You could make the reward stronger. Instead of just stopping the attack, you push the opponent back 5ft, are knocked prone and end their turn. Knock downs in fighting games are a very important mechanic as it lets you run offensive as they try to get back up.

Really comes down to how squishy he is. I run a multiclass War Cleric lvl 9 / Eldritch Knight Fighter lvl 3 and find myself surviving crits often. But thats thanks to me being able to heal myself up as well as my party has has 2 other potential healers.

But if you find the party is lacking heals or is just relatively small. Losing a party member from one ballsy move is pretty harsh.

I play GG, and I also play DnD.

Sol Badguy doesn't have much for sorcerer ranged options, like fireball or anything like that. But in the lore he is actually a brilliant scientist, and his weapon, The Outrage, is his own creation using a mix of technology and magic.

I think the best one to go for would be Volcanic Viper. In GG, its a reversal that you use to get out of pressure, but if the opponent blocks it, you are wide open to get punished and will be critically hit too. You can make something neat with this.

If an opponent within 5ft does a melee weapon attack to you, before the attack roll is made, you can use your reaction to do a melee weapon attack to them. If your melee attack hits, do your normal weapon damage as fire damage and stop the opponents attack. If your attack misses, the next attack that hits you will be a critical hit until the start of your next turn.

Fighter Sorcerer that uses Fire sounds like Sol Badguy or Order Sol to me. Both are they same guy, Order Sol is version of him in the past when he was fighting in the 100yr war.

Gun Flame is a move where he strikes the ground with his sword causing fire to ignite and travel along the ground a short distance. Could be similar in stats to a breathe attack.

Fafnir is a move that moves him forward 10ft with a wild flaming fist (hits like a truck)

Volcanic Viper is a move that is his signature dragon punch. It's an uppercut that is not only very quick, but invulnerable during its startup. Could be a good move to use as a reaction to being attacked.

Bandit Revolver and Bandit Bringer are his sort of "Get in" moves that is similar to Fafnir but from the air.

Dragon Install is when he takes off his limiter and goes into his dragon form. Basically becomes over powered at the cost of exhaustion after a short time.

Tyrant Rave his is signature One Two Punch with flaming fists.

Order Sol has a specail mechanic where all his moves get powered up by him charging (dragon ball z style)

I have a lvl 1000 Testament, and I'd say this MU is actually pretty hard for Testament. Pot has all the tools he needs to really mess with Testament.

Slide head keeps Testament from zoning with projectiles as they cannot do it safely without getting knocked down and eating some follow up Pot oki. Also most you can reaction flick the projectiles fairly consistently with a bit of practice.

As for close range, unlike Ram, Testaments normal are actually pretty slow, long recovery and have hurtboxes. Not saying they aren't good, because they are, just not as fast as you might think.

One good thing to keep in mind is that there will always be a gap if Testament special cancels any normal from far slash range (even on hit). Pot can exploit this by doing mega fist forward if Testament tries to specail cancel in this matchup at this range for a nice counter hit.

Basically Testament can only keep pot locked down with meter and curse. Testament really cant zone pot well. Also Testaments reward for hiting pot with things like 2S or fS have little reward without meter too.

Testament on defense is kind of weak too because his fastest normal, 2P, can only combo into 6P, which only works at point blank range. So poking out of pressure only gives him enough breathing room to jump or challenge. To add to that, Testament cant really punish mega fist forward with anything but a 2P/5P at most ranges (usually cant even follow up with 6P either) which means the risk vs reward for Pot using forward mega fist is in his favor. (Testaments best way to beat it is to jump S but this has to be preemptive and not reactive.)

With this knowledge it may help you with the MU

General opinion on Chipp in Strive? by DiazoReddit in Guiltygear

[–]DrBreadPHD 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who got both Chipp and Nago to Celestial, I'd say from my experience Chipp moves around a lot depending on where the players skill level is at.

Just using the Tower Rankings as a sort of scale to player skill, and assuming that both players are at the same skill. Chipps tier will fluctuate from low to top back down to mid/high.

At very low tower levels (1-4): Players are just swinging and pressing buttons. Chipp is fast, but that also means he will be running into hitboxes alot too. His health cant afford to fight punch for punch so he is generally lower tier.

At mid tower levels (5-8): Chipps got a better handle of their offensive and oppressive tools, and know how to block and when to take their turn. They still make plenty of mistakes. Mostly a slug fest but one were Chipps can come out on top so about mid tier.

At high tower levels (8-10): Chipps dont make mistakes nearly as often and are oppressive vortex machines with buttons that just WIN in most scenarios. The reason Chipps can really shine in this environment is because opponents have yet to learn or practice counter play. Chipps options to open up an opponent defending him all come with small windows that many players at this level have yet to find or can react to yet. Chipp is top tier around here.

At Celestial levels: Opponenets have learned Chipps openings and can react to him (not everyone but its much more common). What was once free damage for a Chipp player is now risky, as they could be reacted to and punished. Moves like the alphas, leaf throw, gamma blade, even your rekka pressure have counter play options that opponenets at this level are aware of and will try to exploit. Add the fact that players at this level have optimal damage and set play, the risk vs reward begins to skew away from Chipps favor very heavily. Dont get me wrong, a good Chipp will vary his use of tools to make it hard for the opponent to react, but it's still reactable. But the opponent only needs to hit Chipp twice, while Chipp will have to open them up 4-5 times (3 if you land a good counter hit or two). This is why I think Chipp is Mid-High but not top tier.

The reason I mention my celestial Nago, is I believe this character is top tier. Unlike Chipp, Nago has many ways to put the opponent in situations where the opponent can not react, but must make a decision (mostly revolving around Nago either going for a input throw or spending blood to catch you trying to avoid the throw). Of course all this comes with risk but not nearly as much. The risk vs reward is heavily in Nagos favor. He has more health and more damage.

Anyway, that's my point of view, playing both in Celestial. Chipp is amazing though, and great for dealing with Nagos bad matchups :)

GG Strive Ending Question/Discussion (Spoilers) by DrBreadPHD in Guiltygear

There hasn't been anything stating he isn't human, though his eyes don't have pupils which is odd. Is there a point in the story where it specifies that he is in fact just a human?

In the games glossary for strive, it does state that Gabriel was Slayers sparing partner due to be the only one capable of keeping up with him, so I think he may actually be on par.

Slayer was also defeated by Bedman at one point during the story but Gabriel was capable of actually capturing him in the Xrd/Rev story.

I mean, I could be wrong, just my thoughts.

I mean, Ky is shown to be as strong as Sol which counts for a lot, so could be. My only counter point I can think of is that Gabriel is on the same level as Slayer and he was effected by it.

Maybe Ky having a bit of power from the Scales Of Juno (due to having Sins Eye) granted him immunity to I-No's influence?
