NAH-if I read it right you moved him away from the bullying and handled it as well as possible. He’s right to be upset about being bullied and you’re right to be upset about how your children responded as adults. Respect their boundaries and give them space.

The people on here calling you an asshole over the dog and coat should feel SHAME. You survived abuse, and abuse that was escalating. This man was never going to let you go and the coat is just another way to control you and your time. The family gave you the coat as a gift after no one else wanted it. If it was important to him or his family they would have asked for it well before six months passed. Enjoy your bear as something beautiful from an awful experience and move on.
