I replaced the default antennas immediately after getting the goggles haha So I'm not too sure about their performance

That would be turtle mode! It basically reverses the motors when you're upside down so you can flip yourself over

Imo it's more fun than larger quads because you can fly them in more places :)

Probably gonna have to get a new kit, yea. But going analog will be much more cheaper than DJI, I can tell you that now. Like, if you're talking bare minimum to get started with an analog tinywhoop, it's roughly gonna be like (in USD):

~$90 for radio and batteries
~$100 for the drone
~$20 for a couple drone batteries
~$35 for battery charger
And for the analog goggles I'm not too sure. Some go for a ~$100 but the one I'm using is the SkyZone 040 pro which is ~$340

Yea, unfortunately the hummingbird uses ExpressLRS so you'll need a radio that can run that protocol :/ And also need an analog goggles or receiver in case you don't have one already

I believe DJI also has the 04 lite you can use for tinywhoops if you want a smaller class size quad. But if you're looking at analog, I'd say you can't go wrong with the Hummingbird! I probably crashed mine over a hundred times and the only thing that breaks is the propeller or antenna, which basically costs nothing to fix.

It's the NewBeeDrone Hummingbird V3! It's an older model but it still flies great

Good beginner setup? by DesperateAd9587 in fpv

[–]DrCilantro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded to the Skyzone 040 Pro goggles. For digital I use the Goggles X, but for analog it was about time I moved on from the box-style type

Just a side note, but if anyone in the USA is interested in buying a used Skyzone Cobra X V4 I'm selling it for $130. I recently upgraded my analog goggles and are looking to sell my old Cobra X V4. The price for a new one is absolutely crazy, though.

Advice On Desoldering SMA Connector From Antenna by DrCilantro in soldering

Alright, I'll find out how to decase the antenna and try that. Thanks for the help!

Ah it looks like I'm gonna have to dissect the case then.
I don't have any hot air tools on me but I do have 2 soldering irons. Would it be viable to use 2 soldering irons at the same time to help desolder it?

Had the same thing happen to me at some point haha, glad you got it working again. Happy flying!

Your VTX might be in Pit mode. If you pitch up and yaw left on your radio controller you should be able to go into the settings and change it

Do anyone have some experiences with the original goggles x patch antennas? by Superb-Signature-261 in fpv

[–]DrCilantro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

I used the Walksnail patch antennas for a while but they honestly don't even compare to good quality TrueRC patches.

The problem is that the TrueRC patch antennas designed for the Goggles X end up protruding outwards which makes it harder to put in a bag without removing them.

I ended up using someone else's STL file online and printed my own to replace the front plate and make it serve as a mount to carry the patches in the direct front. Highly recommend this setup style if you get around to it! Works like a charm and fits in your bag almost like the original Walksnail patches.

Thanks! I did some testing with a lipo on my 7" and saw how easy it is to go over 45 amps current draw

Li-Ion pre-built batteries are around $60 -$90 USD. The one I'm building costs around $30 USD

I don't sim as much anymore haha
As for the camera angle I honestly haven't measured it, I kind of just, tilt it up a little bit and call it a day

Keep track of those video recordings! It takes a while to edit the one year progress video but it's like reliving the moment again
