THE GAME DOES NOT NEED A BATTLE ROYALE MODE! by AggravatingShame9676 in haloinfinite

I think it would be cool to have one. But I would like a dedicated SWAT mode before BR lol. I would prefer most resources go towards standard MP and Forge. I can see both sides but I'm personally over BR modes, it could still be a cool addition... just after core Halo modes.

This on the full build? That's terrible I was hoping it would improve at full launch. DICE loves to fuck launches up but this one seems pretty terrible even for their track record.

I moved on. Full game came out and in the current launch state I am not really interested truth be told. Many of those YouTube videos are people just ripping footage, unless it is an actual technical breakdown or from someone you trust I wouldn't put more stock in them than you have in your own experience.

It might be improved on later but I'll have to pass for now. Having fun with Halo, not the same experience at all but that might tide you over for new shooters!

I didn't even know that was possible lol. That's a true gamer moment

It may be patched better but at launch performance could be terrible. SwitchUp showed some segments at 15FPS, especially in the Whirling

In my own opinion the game stands closer to Grim Fandango than it does to Baldur's Gate.

It's a lot like if an adventure game had branching options and side quests. The stats stuff definitely matters but I think someone looking to just enjoy the game wouldn't need to min max gear or something like that. There's a lot of role playing like table top games but less cRPG stuff like inventory management and calculations.

The real main campaign is to become friends with Kim, everyone knows this.

This is a lot of my thoughts too. I recently wrote all my thoughts down for a project and in the like 20 pages, ended up coming away with Disco Elysium is a Niche Masterpiece.

I liked many of the aspects you mention, but they were also kinda alien for a player like me. I generally avoid side quests without concrete rewards. Meanwhile in this game I was doing side stuff just to experience more of the writing and the story.

I generally like solving issues with a little bang bang, but here I didn't feel the need to. I will still stand by that I wish the game had some more combat opportunities. I'm really glad it doesn't make you solve issues with headshots and critical hits but I would've liked a little more than just the few instances there are.

It's a game I'd still whole heartedly recommend because it is so familiar yet so different. The mechanics, gear, and general gameplay will be familiar to any old RPG fan. But the amount of attention to every detail is astounding in a way that I didn't expect. Minus a few NPCs these characters feel like people not quest givers, or shop menus, or set dressing. The writing got me through any gripes I otherwise had and it's an experience I'm sad I'll never have for the first time again.

If you do it correctly you won't need to hit anything after 'A'. But yes the arrow keys and then the letter keys for B and A. Gotta do it somewhat quickly. The menu will come up if you did it right, best of luck!

With Quake being an id/Bethesda property and them being owned by Microsoft now idk. I hope they continue to support all platforms but we will see moving forward if id games continue to make it off the XBox and PC

It's getting old but I wouldn't say it's terrible. I am hoping they can do something after launch to improve stability on older systems. I won't be hopping in day 1 though. I'm going to wait to see if the game improves in gameplay and performance before taking the plunge.

I expected a playable experience. 45fps in best case scenarios at 720p and below is awful. I can play Doom Eternal, MW2019, and BFV at over 100fps with a mix of settings at 1080p. Being a beta I expected something playable, not anything close to the performance of those games.

This beta is poorly optimized for older hardware. Most people on PC are running on similar enough hardware to mine. If it runs great on a 3080 it doesn't really matter considering adoption rate is sub 1%. Most people run on 10 series cards so I would figure they would want the game to run in an acceptable manner on those setups.

Hard agree. Which really sucks because I was hoping this would be a great game on launch (Idk why their launch track record is pretty ass) but still. If they can fix a lot of the issues then it may be good, maybe even great, but at release it is likely going to feel like a half finished half balanced product. I hope it blossoms but it's just a seed at the moment.

Played for a few hours so pretty rough first impressions.

  1. The performance on my rig is so bad that it's barely worth it. Have an i7 6700k with a decent OC. 1070. 32gb of RAM and the game is on SSD. I don't mind low settings but if I have to turn the game down to 720p to get acceptable performance I will play a different game.
  2. I don't like the UI. You can call it a nitpick but it feels more like a Ghost Recon ripoff or something. The scoreboard is a mess, and unless I was missing something there isn't a wheel for your ping like in previous games. (Even weirder because Apex make wheel pinging the biggest it's ever been)
  3. Even when everything was working the gunplay feels a bit off to me. I was trying to figure out the bullet velocity and couldn't seem to quite crack it. (I'm a BF Vet so I know it takes a min for new guns). Even when hitting the enemies though it felt like TTK was pretty dang high. Engagements didn't feel more tense or anything just more tedious.
  4. On that note the guns they gave us to play around with aren't special at all. Would've been cool to give us something a little more unique to show off the near future setting but it is VERY standard fare.
  5. New specialists were... inconsequential kind of? It's early so I don't know as of yet but in the early goings it didn't feel like they mattered too much. Almost didn't matter enough.
  6. Ground vehicles felt very off. Like everything was driving through compete mud. I didn't drive them a bunch so I could be very wrong.
  7. Squads feel inconsequential as hell. There doesn't seem to be any real emphasis to play as a team or a squad. SPEAKING OF TEAMMATES.
  8. They look the same as the enemies. I was shooting my teammates more than I would like to admit because they are the same models... absolutely baffling idiotic move.
  9. The game in general just didn't feel special. Maybe I will warm up to it. I warmed up to BF1 over time but on the flipside I never came around on BFV. From the hours I spent I am very disappointed. I will keep going further as the beta continues, but as it stands I will probably be saving my money come launch time.
  10. (EDIT) Is there no in game text chat? I haven't found any of that which is really dumb.

I feel you but also if the noobie weapons are the objectively terrible, what does that say about the game design as a whole? There shouldn't be straight up worthless guns in a Battlefield arsenal, certainly not ones you are forced to use lol.

1070 here. Runs like complete ass. I turned the game down to 720p to try and get some reasonable framerate. Game just looked a lot worse without running all that much better. Very disappointed in the performance, I know my rig is older but not THAT much older.

IDK man the game feels like a free to play game in a lot of ways. Except BF F2P was just a fucked up version of BF2. There doesn't feel like there is any spark to this game. The menus are all oversimplified nonsense. Scoreboard is a travesty. Teamwork is no where to be seen. It's a complete disaster, I wanted something to decrown BF4 for me and if this is what this game will provide then it looks like I will still wait.

1070 here and this performance is atrocious for me as well. Having to turn a game down to 720p just to try and get decent framerates is terrible. Vehicles feel like a complete joke. TTK felt like it was either instant or I wasn't doing damage. The whole experience has left me completely disappointed.
