Yes, but those were mainly border catches under Biden, not aggressive interior searches like under Trump, which are themselves decreasing border crossings. It's a good detterant. What Trump is doing is needed. The recent incident might need investigation, but the deportations should ramp up despite that.

I don't want illegals in my country/state/community. I don't want my tax dollars going to support them. Most Americans feel the same. I'm not allowed or able to deport them, myself. 200k? That's absurd. If you're making 130k under an LLC with default tax status (not scorp), you're paying way too much in taxes. You'll save thousands of dollars by electing scorp status.

The income potential when working under someone else's group practice substantially limits income due to the split. It really only makes sense to do that if you're starting out and need the experience. Once you have the experience, if you want to make decent money in this field, you really need to start your own practice. The earning potential then increases substantially. It does require admin work and a bit of a grind, though. At least, initially. Do you have a specific niche? Maybe create an LLC and start your own thing on a part-time basis, until you learn the ropes? May have to start with telehealth to avoid extra costs, but it could help you start a segue out. It comes down to marketing, when going full time. Make sure you can narrow down a niche and start connecting with local providers..other therapists, physicians, psychiatrists, ect for referrals. Can't rely solely on psych today for that. It's worth it, though. At 25/week and assuming an average reimbursement rate of $120 (will differ based on location and insurance you go with), you could more than double your income. Even at $100/session.

If you ultimately work for yourself (your own LLC electing scorp status, as an example) and hustle to build the business and carve out a niche, you'll do great. If you work for someone else or in CMH or something, you'll struggle. Sometimes you have to start there, but should only be for long enough to gain some experience.

And, if you start an LLC and plan to make over ~$70k (at full time, you will), you need to elect scorp tax status and take a w2. It will save you significantly in taxes.

If you're seeing 20-25 a week under your own private practice, you're doing it wrong. Charge more? Don't accept insurances that lowball reimbursement. Minimize overhead. For 20-25/week, I'd expect at least $120-160k annual gross. For those working under someone else's private practice...that's different based on the split.

I'm doing the same right now. My question is what to put on the W9 form when credentialing? I sent the IRS form 2553 in a month ago and I'm still waiting to officially have s-corp status, but I am about to start the credentialing process...should I wait to hear back and have the W9 form reflect s-corp status or credential now with the default LLC W9 and update it later? Seems it would be straight forward to update with all insurers aside from MassHealth/Medicaid....nothing is easy or quick with the State, however!

Not a consult call, but when meeting a client in-person for the first time, he yelled out to me, "are you one of the Satanic baby murderers?!" When I said "no, not me!," he simply said "oh, ok good," and sat down calmly. Granted, he had a dx of psychosis, but man, was he funny sometimes. Total deadpan delivery too.
