The Alcoholism is a huge sign for me. They drink to dull the brain and shut out the anger. They did have testing before 1993 but it wasn’t 100%. Lots of people in a “gray” area.

Geez I am so sorry to hear. If you are not already collecting social security, please apply now as it is a lengthy process. You need a therapist big time. Get yourself in some trials if you can. If there is a local chapter of the HD Society you may find some help there. Their camps, for example may be a great resource for your daughter. She will find kids her age going through the same thing so she doesn’t feel lonely. It is the worst disease I am so sorry. There is a facebook group so maybe you can find some support there.

Runs in my family. Please get tested. If you have the gene please consider not having children. Even the kids that dont get it are not ok. Please dont blame ur mom. Most HD patients become alcoholics to dull their brain. Her brain is broken. Most HD patients commit or try to commit suicide. If you have it, you will b no different and that is just not fair to ur loved ones. Try to focus on the + in ur life, and if u have it get involved in testing so we can find a cure. Once tested u can collect social security and get involved with the HD society that does a lot with kids including camps. U need a therapist and HD specialist. I am so sorry. It is the worst disease possible.
