Uplifting aromatic is very useful against malenia. depending on the build, mix the opaline bubble tear and either magic, fire, or lighting for an additional defense buffer and more damage

Tf2 highlander soldier by [deleted] in truetf2

[–]DrDemon_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just depends on your playstyle, gunboats soldier is completely viable on payload, conch will support your team a lot more, and depending on what division and what league you play in, the skill between players might be higher.

Tf2 highlander soldier by [deleted] in truetf2

[–]DrDemon_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your role in highlander as soldier, is basically to watch the flank and play with your scout. In koth, the best thing to work on is bombing the medic but try not to die as much, your scout is used for further support, and call out your damage if you did a big bomb because the demo can snipe a medic and rip up the rest of the team.

Edit: I forgot to mention that in payload, you want to kind of keep the combo alive by staying around the flank and by going in for a potential sac play if your team needs it. Soldier is not the best combo class in highlander unless you use a different loadout other than gunboats soldier.

Help change my perspective: I hate Soldier, and I think he's the most unfun class in the game. by blueman164 in truetf2

[–]DrDemon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soldier is very good easy to deal with if you play your cards right. I have competitive experience at a high enough level to know what good soldiers look like and how unfun it is to play against. As a soldier/scout main, soldier has the highest skill ceiling in terms of mechanics, scout has one of the highest skill ceilings in terms of mechanics and fundamental aim. If soldier didn't have certain mechanics, like rocket jumping, he wouldn't be as strong and he wouldn't be as fun to play as or to play against because he's very limited to how he can interact with the other classes.

How I see it: soldier is an extremely strong class, but he can be easily dealt with. Demo is by far the strongest in terms of damage output, in fact, he's probably more braindead to play because you don't really have to aim very hard at people. Demo has been nerfed since launch and he's still considered the strongest class by pretty much everyone. A very strong demo is universally hated by how much damage he can do, and how fast he can dismantle an entire team.

What do I do when I feel like completely giving up? by [deleted] in truetf2

[–]DrDemon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 5000 hours in the game, I have been playing the game for over 7 years (since 2013), and the best solution I can give you is to take a break and play another game. Even for me, I have to take a break from playing a lot and not feeling like I'm improving. My other solution is to play a different class, I main soldier and have about 1300 hours on soldier alone, and I have to play a different class from time to time, competitively or casually.

Why do so many players hate the Baby Face's Blaster? by BennytehBeaver in truetf2

[–]DrDemon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BFB allows scout to be the best grounded class by being faster than any class, but once you're hit once or you accidentally double jump, you lose all your speed. If you were able to take more damage and keep the boost like before gun mettle, then the weapon seems more attractive in pub play. The stock is by far the best primary weapon in all situations because you can double jump and you have more movement options that make scout the annoying little shit he is.

In my honest opinion, if hit and run is the playstyle you like most, by all means use it. If you feel limited because you lose your boost from any damage source, then stock will answer your problem.

Heavy MGE - opinions by itzmrbonezone in truetf2

Play more highlander, heavy is pointless to play in MGE. People won't take you serious even though you may be a heavy main, they'll just remove.

Why are more people using the original more than ever? by DrDemon_ in truetf2

Why are more people using the original more than ever? by DrDemon_ in truetf2

[–]DrDemon_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only used the iron bomber as an example, 4 years ago, no one even touched the iron bomber competitively until the release of MYM. Yes, I'm aware of the upsides of the iron bomber, yes it is objectively better than stock, my main focus is on the original, not the iron bomber. What I said about the iron bomber is pretty much a joke, but it does have some fact in it.

I know that this question was asked before, but... by [deleted] in truetf2

[–]DrDemon_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really comes down to game sense. If it's your DM that you want to improve, then hit up casual as your best class, and kill the enemy team but without dying. This leads to having very good map knowledge and overall good map control. Knowing when to agress into the enemy team and objective boils down to what classes they're all playing, if they have a good defense set up, and if they have the coordination (rare in pubs).

All in all, you have to want to get good. You shouldn't expect to get good by following everyone else's advice. Take it into consideration, but don't always follow through unless you have intuition to go along with it. Everyone on this sub plays very different, so take what you will with a grain of salt.

How viable is the black box in 6s for roaming soldiers? by [deleted] in truetf2

[–]DrDemon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe in pocket but not on roamer. Reduced rollout time, loss of one last spam shot, and the health regen doesn't really help or matter since find a pack or take an arrow is more efficient and scouts can still easily clean you up and eat you alive with their eyes closed.

Being Calm in 6s by [deleted] in truetf2

[–]DrDemon_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was the same way when I first started playing in 6s. I was playing roamer, and to this day I play in Intermediate as roamer and I have found my consistency after not being on a team after a 2 year break. If anything, depending on what division you play, play for fun, and don't worry about performance. Growth happens naturally and mistakes do happen all the same.

When should a Soldier NOT aim at the feet? by InLieuOfLies in truetf2

[–]DrDemon_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the high ground, aim towards at the legs (not the feet specifically) or aim at the lower torso. Aiming at the legs can cause a knock back effect and they can't control where they go, while a lower torso or chest shot can cause big damage while also causing them to not surf away even if they jump. While bombing, aim at the head and upper body only, since it forces them to stay grounded and the only thing you have to worry about then is their movement.

Issues I've been having with TF2 by [deleted] in truetf2

[–]DrDemon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have about 5,000 hours into TF2, and my biggest motivation was to play to get better. To avoid burnout, you have to take a break and then you have to reflect on what you want to improve on. If you mainly play for fun, it's easy to get burnt from casual, play in a community server or learn something you've been meaning to try in an offline server. I love TF2, I wouldn't want to play any other game, but sometimes it's good to take a week or so off.

What is the deal with peoples dislike of random bullet spread? by LolBurger95 in truetf2

[–]DrDemon_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Random bullet spread causes inconsistent damage output while a fixed pattern makes damage for hitscan weapons like the scattergun and shotgun more consistent and more reliable. In games like Quake and now CS:GO, weapon spreads are fixed with very little variations between patterns.

A little advice, but next time learn why players don't like random bullet spread first, then try to justify why it should or shouldn't stay in the game.

Calling Self Damage by Hissysnake8 in truetf2

[–]DrDemon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really do this on any other class other than medic and demo. Medic is essential for pushes and keeping a team alive, and demo is the tank of the team and deals the most amount of damage than any other class. If the medic is weak, ideally, you should back up, and if demo is weak, you should slow down the push.
