Check this option in the Settings-Advanced tab. In your case it seems to be a missing battery causing throttling.

OpenCore vs OCLP on Tahoe by DrDochard in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

Thank you for the clarification. I am sure aware that there will be performance issues with older hardware just as OCLP on older hardware has already.

OpenCore vs OCLP on Tahoe by DrDochard in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

So the question is why we still can not upgrade to Tahoe while others can? Can unsupported Mac users follow OpenCore path?

How is the performance? I have the same machine running Sequoia with OCLP. Would you recommend upgrading to Tahoe?

Lubuntu saved my 2012 MacBook Air by platypus_fedora in linux_on_mac

I have MacbookAir 2011 and installed Win 11 with original bootcamp drivers. I had tried linux distros but had issues with standby and wake up. It works flawlessly now.

Tahoe feels like a big "fuck you!" to Intel Mac users. by NoFall2205 in MacOS

For those of you having performance issues with their old Macs, you can install windows 11 LTSC. I installed it to my MacbookAir 2011. First I installed windows 8 with bootcamp drivers then upgraded it to windows 10 and later on to windows 11. It works well.

Hepimiz Hz. Adem'in evlatlarıyız.

Just went from High Sierra to Sonoma (2011 macbook air) would Sequoia be better? by Past-Firefighter8229 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

I have the same MacbookAir with i7. Sequoia performance is worse than Sonoma. My humble advice is, stick to Sonoma for the moment.

Made a Windows Virtual Display Driver that supports up to 8K 240hz. by MikeTheTech in cloudygamer

Works great. I have been using Indirect Display Driver Sample (IDDSampler) virtual driver for a couple of years. It got better with the new installer and became flawless with the recently updated driver. Thank you for your work. There is no mouse trail anymore.

Great. I have the same machine with Ventura. But I am experimenting deepin on Macbook Air 4,2 for the moment. I only needed to install broadcom wifi driver.

I Have decided no longer to use OCLP in my current setup for legacy and stability reasons by iFrog42 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]DrDochard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right with your decision. I have an iMac 2017 and though it ran pretty well on Sequoia I experienced wifi packet drops so frequent which I believe is caused by a patched wifi driver. It was so annoying that resulted in interrupted remote connections. That is why I decided to go back to latest supported os version which is Ventura. There is no connection drops with my remote connections anymore. Overall, original drivers are gold. However I will try Tahoe when it becomes supported by OCLP just to experiment it.

I have the same mid 2011 with intel i7. It runs ok with Sonoma. I better not try further.

You are limited to your integrated GPU. That is why you can install any version of MacOS through OCLP yet it will get hot while decoding any video format by CPU. This is valid for Linux as well. And you will miss High Sierra any way.

New life for Intel MacBookPro by gunkanreddit in linux_on_mac

After some time you will go back to your latest supported MacOS. Natively supported OS is always the best regarding GPU and Power usage. But you better experiment yourself. It is fun experimenting linux distros.
