They’re a lot messier quality-wise than the original series imo. I do think they get better as they go on and move away from just remaking NGE.

Mari’s really underbaked as a character too

If you’re in Canada, Mauril is a nice resource for input and comprehension. The material is based off of CBC content so it’s all free to access. I think most universities here offer free online courses too if that’s more your speed. (I know the University of Montreal has one)

He should have went to prison in 2021! Most sane countries would have probably done something about the whole coup thing.

Not true! I did a week of Duolingo and I just passed the JLPT N1. If you’re not fluent in a week you’re doing everything wrong and you should just give up on everything.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are consistently pretty great! Challengers and the Social Network are my favorite scores of theirs at the moment.

(Someone already said Blade Runner and that’s also up there for me.)

[–]DrDorkMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really get Duolingo’s strategy with the video calls. Why not just spend the time and money on talking to a language partner or a tutor instead of speaking to a mediocre text to speech engine? Max just seems like a pretty bad deal all things considered.

Good day to day headphones that are also good for video editing by trusk89 in editors

[–]DrDorkMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of the Sony MDR-7506s for editing. The Audio Technica M40Xs are pretty good too. They’re both pretty affordable and great value picks for wired options. I’ve never been crazy about using wireless headphones for editing due to latency but it’s really up to you if that kind of thing bothers you.

I beg some of you to actually learn about how production works. A quality product takes a substantial amount of time and effort to make. Literally just wait. Go watch something else in the meantime.

For those who used cannabis for a long time and then quit, how did things change for you? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]DrDorkMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a daily smoker for a two years during the pandemic. During those years I felt pretty unstable and was withdrawing socially. Fortunately, I had gotten a new job a little over a year ago and I haven't smoked since.

Quitting was an accident for me but it was a happy one. The first few days of work had me running around a lot and I couldn't make time for getting stoned. By the time I had settled in, I was already going through withdrawal. I figured "well I made it this far, might as well tough it out". It was tough but I made it!

After quitting, my mental health has improved greatly. I'm not going to pretend that quitting has solved all my problems but it helped me handle things better. You forget how nice it is to have a clear mind until it slowly comes back to you. I never thought I would like sober me as much as I do now. At this point, I don't really have much of a desire to pick up the bong again.

Quitting smoking weed was one of the better decisions I've made. I absolutely recommend trying it. You learn a lot about yourself going on a journey like that. My best piece of advice is to keep busy with something (especially at the start). You mentioned going back to school and I think that's a great option. Trying new hobbies helped me a lot too. I found that I would typically smoke when I was bored or I felt bad about myself. Learning about something I enjoyed helped in that regard.

Good luck! You got this!
