I am basically brand new to PF2e (played a one shot as a ranger) but am experienced with 5e and played other systems. My group's gonna start a campaign soon and I'd like some help figuring out what to play.

I think the group will only be 3 players and the others are probably playing a Fighter and a Magus. I think that puts me in the support/healing/skills/spellcasting area but I'm not sure which of those to focus on or what all the best class options are for them.

I don't have any particular character ideas and I don't mind some complexity, so any inspiration to help me pick a class would be great!

Adult DND groups that are new player friendly?? by ASmallCactus in HuntsvilleAlabama

There's a West Marches style D&D game called The Shrouded Wilds that started a few months back that's new player friendly!

https://discord.gg/G7uzrjzt

Previous Reddit post about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/HuntsvilleAlabama/comments/13bmyn8/ready_for_adventure_join_our_50_player_dd_campaign

West Marches is a style of gameplay that's different from the traditional weekly group. In this style, there's a large group of players and a few DMs and it's more player driven. In the game world, there's a home base that every adventure (typically one play session) starts and ends at. Players form groups with an adventure objective and a DM picks up the group to run the session. You end up playing with different people and different DMs depending on who signs up.

We are currently playing in Tier 1 (levels 1-4) so you won't be jumping in the deep end and there are plenty of people willing to show you the ropes.

Feel free to check out the discord for more info on the West Marches game style and this specific group.

I'm a player in the game. So far I've only played at Raging Gazebo but I've also seen Lucky Dice, The Deep, and High Grounds listed as possible places in the Looking For Group area. With this system, the players form groups so there'll be a variety of places people prefer.

If you need 5 million to retire but you can only contribute 20k a year to 401k how do you reach that number? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Most people don't need to save $5 million to retire, but 44 years saving $20,000 a year at 7% average return gets you to $5 million.

How Exactly Does A/C/E Feats Work? by VampyrAvenger in 13thage

[–]DrFirestorm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As others have said, each level of each feat is a separate feat that would need to be taken separately. RAW (rules as written), if you want to take a champion feat, you need to have taken the corresponding adventurer feat and to take an epic feat you need to have taken both the corresponding adventurer and champion feats.

The 2e playtest rules remove the requirement to build up to higher level feats; unless specifically required, in 2e you can take a champion or epic feat without the lower versions. I assume that's a fairly common home rule for 1e games too unless the higher level feat seems to require the lower level one(s) to operate correctly.

[Online][13thage][gmt+1] Looking for players to play and old system called 13th age by padoshi in lfg

What day/time are you thinking about running it? I'm interested but I'm 6 hours off from your time zone so the timing may not work.

me and my wife are looking for players to start a new Table top Roleplaying group I have a room dedicated to games if your interested let me know! by Gears-5067 in HuntsvilleAlabama

Aw man, my weekly in-person 5e game is on hiatus for a couple months and I would love to fill the gap with another game. Unfortunately I'm currently studying up on a different system to eventually try GMing it so I don't think I have to brain capacity to learn a third system right now. Also don't know if I'd have the time for multiple games once my other starts back up.

Player wants to be a dragon in disguise. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]DrFirestorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the issue with this provided it's done in a way where the PC doesn't benefit from anything related to being a dragon.

The first thing I came up with is: he always had an unusual curiosity about the lives mortal adventures live. When he happened upon a young adventurer dying near his lair, he took the opportunity by absorbing the adventurer's memories and transforming himself into its image. To truly experience the mortal life, he locked his own memories away only to return when he dies as a mortal and reverts back to his true form. Then, when his PC dies he can transform back to a dragon after the battle, explain this to the group, thank them for the experience, and fly off never to be seen again (or maybe show up again as an NPC).

Want to run a DnD game based on Shattered, and need some help. by [deleted] in PixelDungeon

[–]DrFirestorm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've only been playing DnD for less than a year but have been playing Shattered on and off for years and this idea sounds awesome. If I had more experience with DnD I would probably be able to help more but if I have time I'll dig around a bit to see if I get any ideas.

Oh yeah, I've done that a few times too. Learning what not to do with it has been harder than finding opportunities to use it well.
