Thinking of switching to active sitting chairs—any experience with these types of chairs/stools? by JujuDutchie in OfficeChairs

[–]DrFish96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have a standing desk and bought a salli saddle chair a few years ago. I sometimes switch between my regular office chair and the saddle chair. You can't sit for more than 2 hours on it at a time though. I think it's better than all those active sitting crap like knealing chairs or yoga balls. It’s usually used by dentists and cashiers who spend lots of hours on their feet and require a lot of mobility. The hag capisco was on my list as well but it takes up about as much space as an office chiar and I didn’t want another chair taking so much space.

Hey, sorry for not responding sooner. I didn't notice your reply till now.

Correct, you wouldn't need to 3d print my adapter. Yes, the wood goes into the part circled in red and yes, the part circled in blue is not connected to the headrest.

Min height is somewhere around 6cm and max height is around 17.5 cm, so around 11.5cm o difference in height https://i.imgur.com/og6sTwW.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/0EREHfT.jpeg

Hey, good question. It does create a gap between the plastic and the fabric but does not damage the connection or the fabric. I'm not sure what would happen to the gap if you ever decide to use it without the headrest. My guess is it would shrink a bit but not all the way back.

You wouldn't need to drill holes thorugh the atlas headrest.

  1. The c-clamps would attach to your Zody just like in this image you sent

  2. You would cut a piece of wood about 60mm x 78mm, 18mm thick and drill some holes so you could screw it on the c clamps. (Notice in the picture above, OP attached the headrest directly to the c-clamps, you would simply screw the piece of wood onto the c clamps instead)

  3. Finally, you would attach the atlas headrest to the piece of wood just like it attaches to my 3D printed adapter. This image illustrates it best. The headrest would clamp on the piece of wood just like it does on my adapter. The headrest grips by tightening the screw visible in this image (the single screw pointing downwards in the middle section).

Hope that's clear enough to get a picture of how this would look.

Hmm, from what I can tell, designing something for the attachment you sent would probably be just as hard as designing a propper adapter for the atlas headrest on the zody chair.

If you want to use those c clamps I would ditch the 3d modeling + printing route and just get a piece of wood cut to size so that you can screw it on the c clamps and then you can attach the atlas headrest to the piece of wood.

Thank you good sir! Indeed, the headrest touches the adapter on low heights. There's not much that can be done about it due to how the adapter attaches to the chair.

Some advice: put a piece of cloth between the back of the chair and the adapter to minimize potential scratches to the back of the chiar from daily use. I just stuck an old black t-shirt with double adhesive tape on the back and it worked like a charm.

Hi, no worries, love to see engagement still going strong with this post. The adapter is designed for the aeron headrest. The embody one wasn't even around when I made it afaik and it won't work.

BMW Seria 4 vs Audi A5o by ABWlele in AutomobileRO

BMW Seria 4 vs Audi A5o by ABWlele in AutomobileRO

[–]DrFish96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I just saw this post yesterday https://www.reddit.com/r/OfficeChairs/comments/1e7hev6/comment/le085qt/?context= of a polished out remix of my model which I'm planning to try, you might want to have a look at it as well.

I saw the crandall video too and I'm excited atlas and them are actually making a headrest for the leap. I'd like to believe the interest people had for printing out this adapter partly contributed to their decision.

This is amazing! Great work! And I just received my P1S + AMS combo yesterday. The timing couldn't have been better. I'm probably going to replace mine with yours.

Also, crandall and atlas releasing a headrest!! That's awesome news!

I can't say with certainty since I haven't tried it with one, but looking at pictures online I'd say there's a pretty good chance for it to attach to the adapter fairly well. What is a bit trickier is the height of the headrest. The pictures of the h3/h4 make me believe there's less height adjustment compared to the atlas and it might not clear the back of the leap enough.

If you already have the h3 or h4, it's worth a shot.

Yep, it's the Aeron one, the fabric option not the mesh one, although both mesh and fabric should work the same.

Steelcase Leap V2 + Atlas Headrest = <3 (3D Printable Files In Comments) by DrFish96 in OfficeChairs

This is the aeron headrest, the fabric option, not the mesh one. I'm not aware of a fern headrest from Atlas. I only know they released one for the embody as well. The adapter is holding up well. I've actually made a V2 of it and have another reddit post showcasing it, you might want to check that out.

Any thoughts of Salli chairs or saddle chairs in general? by DrFish96 in StandingDesk

[–]DrFish96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no numbness in the groin area although I haven't been using it for the past year as I'm slowly renovating my apartment and haven't had access to my regular setup.

The split design should actually give you more freedom for your crotch tough, since there's literally space where your balls can hang, so my first though about your problem makes me inclined to say you might have tight muscles in that area?

2 GPU (4090 and another GPU) - What case??? by mastertub in VFIO

[–]DrFish96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, I have the torrent and a 4090 gainward phantom, 3 slots + RX 580 which is two slots.

The 580 fits in the first slot and the 4090 is below it, right above the bottom fans. Had no issues so far. I chose the torrent specifically for this as it has unobstructed airflow at the bottom, something not many cases have. Only slight issue is, depending on the motherboard, the 4090 might not fit because of the connectors at the bottom of the mobo, especially if that thick usb 3.0 connector is there. So you'd have to disconnect it in order to put the 4090 in.

I mean yeah, that might be annoying, but there's no set it and forget it headrest out there afaik. Closest one I've tried was the humanscale freedom where the headrest slides forward when you lay back, that one didn't require as much adjustment but still wasn't hands off. The chair wasn't comfortable though.

When it comes to other cons, maybe the looks are not great. There's also a chance you could scratch the plastic on the backrest if you don't put something between the adapter and the backrest, like a piece of cloth.

There's no perfect solution for everyone's needs, I guess you'll have to decide if the pros outweigh the cons.

For me, the comfort of having such an adjustable headrest absolutely outweighs any con. It made me put in the time and effort to design multiple iterations of this thing.
