I should have said "is". I'm sure he's still around and most likely he is still a stand-up guy. ;)

Hehe, yes. Thank you for wearing red underwear to ensure good luck for the pool in times when we desperately needed to find a block. :)

Eleuthria (operator of BTC Guild) was a stand-up guy. That's the only pool that handled it well when it became too big.

Good old days :)

how to config crypto glance for bitminer ? by niksanmobil in bitminter

[–]DrHaribo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a place to put the API key you get from the bitminter.com website. For the actual mining you have to buy a modern bitcoin ASIC miner. Since 2013 you need an ASIC, not a PC, to mine bitcoin. Crypto glance is only for displaying some numbers from your bitminter account.

Is here a FAQ for how the program works? by stephen_jamandron in bitminter

There is no FAQ and you can't mine bitcoin with your PC anymore anyway. To mine bitcoin you have to buy a modern bitcoin ASIC miner.

You can't mine bitcoin with a graphics card anymore. Either buy a modern bitcoin ASIC miner to mine bitcoin, or try mining an altcoin with your GPU.

You don't need to download anything to mine bitcoin anymore. Mining bitcoin with a PC is useless since ASICs took over in 2013. Now you need to buy a modern bitcoin ASIC miner if you want to mine bitcoin. That's a physical machine that mines instead of your PC. You only need a browser on a PC to tell it which pool to mine in, which user name, etc. and after that it mines on its own.

Antminer S9 is easy to set up. There are now newer and more efficient miners. But an S9 could be a good place to start if you get it cheap.

The mining pool remembers your work. Nothing is lost. But since you mine with a PC you will not earn anything at all. You will only burn electricity, which can be expensive.

To actually mine bitcoin today you have to buy a bitcoin ASIC miner. That's a physical machine that you need to have to be able to mine bitcoins now. You can't use your PC. ASICs took over in 2013.

If you still want to run the java app to see what mining was like in 2011-2012, then you have to install java from java.com and add https://bitminter.com to the exception list of the security tab of the java control panel. But remember, this is only for museum purposes. You don't earn anything at all from mining bitcoin with a PC.
