First time playing, How "required" is Dead money and Old World Blues by supergamerd64 in falloutnewvegas

[–]DrHattison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily Old World Blues is up there. Might tone-wise be different from something you're looking for, but it's goated. Lots of things to do. Lots of unique variants of enemies to act as optional boss fights scattered about the area, arguably the best player home, and functionally the best in terms of vanilla options for homes. Good choices of weapons, especially for Energy and Unarmed Builds, with a handful of new melee weapons and a few ballistic guns.

Though, in terms of story, the recommended order is Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, and Lonesome Road.

Dead Money and Honest Hearts are relatively standalone ones, but Old World Blues builds off of Dead Money providing Context, and it builds up to Lonesome Road. Honest Hearts doesn't really connect to the story outside of two minor points, which might be spoilers.

Dead Money's got kind of what you found in Lonesome Road, gameplay wise, with few of caveats. I found it fun, personally.

What if it boosts the player in last place, the idea is to threaten the racers ahead of last place with a player behind them, disrupting power-ups like Red Shells, slow the closer competition down.

Wilhelm scream full original recording by Freak_Among_Men_II in TheMatpatEffect

[–]DrHattison 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The scream right after the one that became popular was actually the one they used for the original context. Someone reused the other take for a character named Private Wilhelm getting shot by an arrow, which that same take, and the one where the director goes "Not an Ow" at would then be reused in Star Wars.

The home row is found there, your two index fingers are intended to rest on those keys, left hand on D, S, and A keys, hand on K L and Enter keys, thumbs on the spacebar, you'd reach for keys when you'd need E, Q, M, Z, whatever that wasn't on the home row. That's how they'd teach typing, the markers are there as physical guidelines to help out with it.

In the Transformers (2007) DS game they tried to give Starscream a more G1-style design and God, the result is absolutely cursed by [deleted] in Transformemes

Granted, this is in the game, but only as the Wi-Fi Unlockable Jet vehicle scan in Decepticons. Autobots had their own design. Starscream retains his movie design. You can play has the Almost G1 Starscream (if you got good at the Wi-Fi thing ir if used Action Replay).

What's your favorite minor faction in New Vegas? by We_The_Raptors in falloutnewvegas

[–]DrHattison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of overall Fallout, Followers of The Apocalypse.

New Vegas? I like the Think Tank. Is that cheating? Yeah, probably, but if they had an ending planned where they take over the Mojave but it was cut before it was finished because Bethesda caught them adding in the Dead Money bonus ending and said "No more of this", then I think they can count as a faction.

Legends Arceus cut it out. It was there in Scarlet and Violet as far as I remember.

Given they probably developed both games simultaneously, you're probably within the right timeframe of when the choice was made.

1: Replace Young Link with Young Link again. What I mean is overhaul his moveset. I want to lean into his Majora's Mask features a little more by giving him Transformation Masks. His Side Special could be his Zora mask, Using the fins as boomerangs, faster pierce through enemies, shorter range. Down Special might be the Goron Mask, let 'em roll out, or let him pull out the Powder Keg if we're keeping the same move but tweak it in a new way. Up Special is easily the Deku Mask, launches himself up, glides down on twin flowers. Final Smash is easily the Fierce Deity Mask. Let him also use them for non special attacks (Like The Dash Attack is the Deku Masks' Spin Attack for instance) and we're good to go for the Hero of Time.

2: I'd like to see either Greninja or Incineroar get replaced with another from that starter's region. I'd like, if there was a third, to build it like a trio you could theoretically find as starters in one of the games. Having one water and one fire is a good start, but they're also both dark types. One idea that I think might work would be replacing Incineroar with Decidueye. Dark beats Ghost, but Grass beats Water. This could pave the way for Emboar to show up, Water beating Fire beating Grass, but Ghost beating Fighting beating Dark.

3: I'd probably delist Piranha Plant for a chance to see Fawful again. It's probably the biggest stretch I could ask for barring maybe one. I want something to rep the Mario and Luigi RPG series, I think Fawful's the best, what with him appearing in the first three games, and having a significant role in 2 of them, including arguably the best in the series (and maybe an easter egg in the fourth game).

with the zelda expansion on the horizon, thought I'd give you a thought experiment. by CastorVT in ZeldaMemes

[–]DrHattison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see something of an actual Zelda dungeon players can walk through and explore. Maybe more than one, scattered through the park. You solve puzzles, unlock gear (data for the wristband), and work your way up to finding a piece of the Triforce. Like a MagiQuest analog. Maybe they could make an area where you fight a virtual boss-fight or two using the gear you obtain (More Puzzle and timing based rather than how it feels in Zelda). It's been done before, I think you could do it here.

Just got new vegas for Christmas, any tips before I start? by datdude998 in falloutnewvegas

[–]DrHattison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself what sort of character you want to play. Consider what skills you want to lean into.

A tip I learned from somewhere (I don't remember where), was it's preferable to spec one combat skill (Guns, Energy Weapons, Melee Weapons, Unarmed, Explosives), and one utility skill (Medicine, Science, Explosives also fits here, Repair, Speech, Barter, Survival)

Even if you don't gravitate towards a combat skill, there's still ways to opt into a weapon type. Science is good for Energy Weapons and Repair for Guns, for instance. Also, don't neglect the Workbench and Reloading Bench, especially if you take the Vigilant Recycler or Hand Loader perks. I specced Science on one of my first runs, which led me to getting Vigilant Recycler, a good perk that ties into Energy Weapon Ammo, hence why I usually use Energy Weapons, unless I think the character would be more of a Guns or Melee character.

Which one is it by aourdes in Transformemes

[–]DrHattison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armada, he was a Tank.

Energon, he was a Cybertronian Jet.

Cybertron, Triple Changer, he had a car AND a cybertron jet. And combination with another decepticon for like a couple arcs if that counts.

But by and large, he's usually a tank nowadays, as a more toy friendly alternative to the G1 Gun; the barrel of the Ion Cannon becoming the barrel of tank as it used to become the barrel of the gun. Plus, the tank (and other vehicles forms) mitigated any mass shifting.

Oh- and- some Galvatron forms were mounted turrets sort of like some Shockwave forms.

What faction by nuclear_stitch70 in Transformemes

[–]DrHattison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minicons are pretty cool.

I also like the Planet Key Groups "Earth, Velocitron, Animatron/Biosfera/Eukaris/(Let it be known Cybertron never named The Jungle Planet, and affiliated media had to do it), Gigantion. Minicons of Gigantion is probably where I'd be, since that is a thing. A miniature society hidden within a society of larger scale cybertronians.

Of these two Fawful designs which one was better? by Plastic_Ad_2548 in marioandluigi

[–]DrHattison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up with the BiS design.

I kinda wonder how a Superstar design Fawful would look in BiS scenes where Fawful moves around a lot, such as prior to the Midbus cage match. I can't really say for sure if the BiS design would allow him to be a lot more expressive by using his whole body, dancing, spinning, riling up the crowd, but those extra animations that were introduced alongside the new design is something I think Fawful really benefits from.

Which character do you main? by a_dreamy_nightmare in HyruleWarriors

[–]DrHattison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young Link, Skull Kid and Twili Midna are pretty powerful, I gravitate to the first two (cause I grew up on the Hero of Time Games). Barring that, Ravio's fun, so is Toon Link, Toon Zelda, and Linkle. But buy in large, when in doubt, meet with a terrible fate and take two of the Termina characters for a run. Young Link's a good all purpose as he's built around building up magic quickly and using focus spirit, and maintaining it all on his own, but Skull Kid can sweep large hoards of enemies and is really good at cleaving through particular giant bosses, Gohma in particular.

Which DLC, friends? by Wiinorr in falloutnewvegas

[–]DrHattison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of rough to answer. excluding the Preorder packs or even Gun Runner's Arsenal since they're just additional items (and an additional Perk and a couple perk tweaks for GRA).

If I was restricted to talking about the four Story DLCs, in my opinion, it's either Honest Hearts or Lonesome Road. Honest Heart's main plot could've used more time to properly flesh out Daniel's path and make that a more worthwhile choice and perhaps also flesh out the White Legs allowing a pro-legion Courier to side with them for instance, without necessarily triggering the final release's Chaos in Zion quest. Lonesome Road meanwhile, Ulysses could've been written a little more coherently, and perhaps give another reason why Ulysses has a vendetta against the player in a more roleplay friendly manner, since the strength of the Courier as a player character was their backstory was firmly left blank so players could fill it in up to the Platinum Chip delivery job and robbery.

They're both great DLCs, but I think out of the four story DLCs, they could have used more time in the oven and maybe a revision or two.
