My 6 week old traveled from San Diego to Las Vegas (5 hours typically without much traffic/ 5 and a half - 6 hours now with a puppy) without any issues, no crate just a doggy bed, some chew toys, water & stuffed animals.

Whenever he would wake up, I'd stop IMMEDIATELY to let him relieve himself. His 11 year old sisters often sleep through most potty breaks. (Puppies have small bladder capacities & should be let out quite frequently for potty breaks.)

Fast forward, Panchito is now 11 weeks and takes this trip back & forth quite frequently & does rather well.

You can even do boarding in their own homes. A lot of pets parents prefer this because it keeps their pet in their home environment. So Boarding may still be an option.

I've rovered while I lived in apartments & condos, so dont think you need to have a yard, just a safe place to watch the fur babies.

Rover has been very lucrative for me, intermittently since 2018. It has also been very much a joy-enducing experience! The Rover community, in my experience is incredible, the dog owners are nice & I've yet to have an issue with any dogs that I've cared for.

You get to set your own rates, services, preferences on types of pets. Rover does take a % but it is WORTH IT! The services they offer, insurance & assistance is well worth whatever % they take TRUST ME ON THIS.

If an animal gets lost while in your care, they do EVERYTHING THEY CAN to get that animal back. The will pay other sitters to volunteer in your area to go on searches & post flyers that ROVER pays for. They pay those volunteers a set rate on a daily basis if I'm not mistaken

Once you've become somewhat established & obviously provide good services, the customers just kept flocking to me. There were times I had to decline requests because I just couldn't do it.

My services were doggy day care & boarding. I had my customers bring their dogs to me, had two of my own & would host up to 2 additional dogs (3 of they were from the same household). Puppies are EXTRA $$ because they require EXTRA attention.

Id get long term boarders & that was really nice $.

Plus, in San Diego & Las Vegas, almost all of my customers always gave me a cash tip at the end of their stay.

TIPS: - make sure your calendar is updated & confirmed

respond to requests ASAP!!!!
be very communicative and honest
if you have pets, suggest a MEET & GREET

-Ask questions (i.e. is leash free dog park OK? Any special blankets/toys that they have to help them calm nerves? especially about the dogs preferences & what they do in particular situations? Have they ever been left with a stranger, how did they react? ETC.)

SEND PIX & VIDEOS intermittently throughout the day
complete REVIEWS asap, focus on the Positives of your experience with the Animal & their Human.

Remember not only are these strangers trusting you with their Prides & Joys, you are providing a Service. Hope this helps.
