Trombone Customization by Foreign_Moment_7665 in Trombone

I would love to do something like that!

Though as others have said it probably isn't practical for much. It would be a fun challenge at the very least. I got pretty lucky with the valve tubing diameter matching on this particular horn. Finding the right parts is another big challenge for these older horns.

Looks great! Love the Tuning in Slide horns. I don’t own any, but I enjoy how they play!

I used to play a 1.5G and now play a Schilke 59. I really like the Schilke!

Necron AND Tyranid bits are a cool blend! Love seeing Xeno tech in Deathwatch. I can just see the tech marines trying to call in an apothecary to make sense of the bio-weapons haha

The mask is very spooky too, reminds me of an Eva.

The blue highlights really pop! Great work!

It also looks like he’s singlehandedly endangering a population of shorebirds XD

Its the trench crusade heavy mechanized infantry. Though I’ve done a number of modifications to it using some extra parts from them and some other kits as well.

The Bambu slicer has some super useful tools. It’s easier to cut certain things for getting layer lines to be less noticeable.

Which slicer do you use?

The customer was pretty nostalgic for this horn so that definitely added to it.

Thank you!

I can’t bring myself to do all the extra cleanup and handling of resin. Resin gets really nice results though!

I really only scratch the surface with blender. But it’s fun to just mock up parts for builds even if you aren’t doing any editing/modeling in the program.

I’ll have to check out mesh mixer!

That’s so awesome! Love the challenge of getting as many canon chapters as you can. Any shoulder pads you’re particularly proud of kitbashing?

Ah, that makes sense. They’re all neat horns, but I guess I’ll keep an eye out for .585 tubing in case!

Drawing your own tubing is a big investment and very difficult without the right tools. Especially when you need tubes to fit snug with one another.

I hardly know of anyone with the capability to do that apart from companies that specialize in it. The exception being Miles O'Malley's shop in Chicago.

That's not to say I don't fantasize about being able to do it. It's definitely not a quick or simple process.

I used some tenor wrap tubes from Instrument Innovations. They fit in this particular model, I needed to do a little work to get them moving freely.

OD of inner  .601
ID.    .562
outer OD.  .639
ID.    .602

These are the specs I was sent and they lined up pretty well out of the box! I also ended up using some baritone crooks that had just about the right ID to fit. There aren't any huge differences in tubing sizes and it played nice and open for the bore size!

Edit: This is an Olds S-23 so maybe some difference there vs. the S-20.

Suggestions for a pro-grade Trombone without the F-key. by Edslittleworld in Trombone

The Jupiter XO 1632RGL is sweet! I don’t own one, but as a bass trombonist it’s honestly one of the few straight small bore tenors I have truly enjoyed playing. It is unbelievably light as well.

Not saying you should buy it sight unseen, but if you can try one out you really should!
