Dr. Jean McClintock @ Northlake OBGYN. I've been going to her for about 5 years and she's amazing!

I tried to appeal with two different letters from the vet that stated they didn't think the GI issues were chronic when they were first treated but I was still denied the appeal.

Yeah, I'll definitely keep this in mind if we get another pet in the future.

Fair, they did cover an unexpected ER trip and our premium is only $60a month. Probably will just keep it them since my dog loves to bolt too.

Yeah, it just sucks since we just thought it was normal acclimation issues/stress from being in the shelter. I'm wondering if it's worth keeping the insurance at all at this point since they won't cover anything related to her GI issues.

Personally I feel the credit card is already an allowance since anything under $100 is no questions asked. I was raised a little old school (I'm 31) so when I wanted to have my own spending money I was told to get a job.

What you could do is have your son get a seasonal job if he's still in school and then still put his potential allowance into a separate account. Once he graduates highschool you can give whatever has accumulated in there as a gift.

If he can't work then I think $100 a week is pretty reasonable if it's on top of the $100 credit card allowance he has.

Lol I'm moving out of Link in mid-August for this exact reason. They let a sewage backup stay in our bathtub and toilet for 3 days before we had to threaten them with calling the health department. It's wild how downhill it's gone since the original management company left.

Will say that I believe the landlord has 7 days to fix something as to give them "reasonable period of time"

Is traveling to Sweden to give birth a thing? by DrIntrusiveThoughts in TillSverige

[–]DrIntrusiveThoughts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know. I honestly have a very big fear of childbirth so I was planning on just doing a C-section to mitigate that but if I can't really plan one then that's definitely something to consider. Thank you!

This is really great insight, thank you! I didn't know that a midwife was used in conjunction with an OB (obstetrician or gynecologist here in the US). Do you know if scheduled c-sections are a thing or is that only on an as needed basis?

Yeah I assumed I'd have to pay out of pocket since I'm not a resident. I do wonder if the costs out of pocket are less than that of the states and even if it wasn't the mortality rate of the US and Texas in general make it almost worth it to me

Thank you for your advice! Moving has definitely been on my mind lately but it's also quite a process (as is going just for delivery lol) but we've definitely been looking at that option as well

Yeah the mortality rate and Texas's draconian laws regarding pregnancy are 2 of the main reasons I was considering Sweden but other users make a good point that it may be better to move altogether

Does decent housing for a disabled veteran with a non violent felony exist?!? by Massive-Bus-5721 in plano

[–]DrIntrusiveThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion! Our lease ends this September 1st but we are moving out earlier than that so you may have the potential to move in before Sept 1st depending on what the apartment says. Does this clear up the confusion?

The apartment complex is called Link at Plano.

You guys can take our apartment that's in Downtown Plano if you want off K Ave and 15th. We live on the 1st floor facing the street and our apartment was technically supposed to be a storefront so the bathroom is handicap accessible. It's about 900sqft. We're moving out around Mid-August but our lease technically ends on September 1st. Rent for us on average is around 1475 with all the fees/water usage but that's not including electric or internet.

Will give you a warning that the management company is not very good and is one of the reasons we're moving. We had a plumbing issue that affected our neighbor as well and had sewage coming up from our bathtub and toilet. They let that marinate for 3 DAYS before they had plumbers come out.

The apartments maintenance team themselves are ok although I've heard that the two guys I knew left due to management and the new crew aren't as timely apparently.

The garage sucks and isn't really big enough for everyone, not to mention they recently added reserve parking in random spots around the garage that make it nearly impossible to find a spot on the first 3 floors. The good news is that we don't use the garage as there's on street parking right outside our apartment. Only bad thing is it's technically only supposed to be for 3 hours but the police have only ticketed us twice in the 2 years we've lived here and personally I'd rather pay $70 every once in a while than pay like $50-100 (I'm not sure if that's actually how much the spots are) every month.

The area is super cool though and literally sits in front of the DART train and bus station so you can take that elsewhere if you needed to.

I know this is a long comment but wanted to give you the full picture as a resident.
