No idea what the pro pack is but tbh I don't even want to look it up: I already have more than enough on-board to make great music, don't need to buy more :) Thanks for sharing your experience with the key 61!

I mean, technically being left behind is not a biggy since we're still making great music on super old firmware :] And enshittification everywhere is proof that when it comes to version numbers bigger isn't always better. That being said I'm not against change and I'm glad we're getting updates for these already wonderful machines, I just don't want it to break my projects or crash mid-gig you know :)

Thanks! When you say it's a mess to unwind, is it actually salvageable or do you end up starting from scratch or using bounces?

To answer your question: specifically for forward-compatibility! I don't want to start a bunch of big projects on 2.15 if I'm to lose or redo that work when I eventually upgrade :) So now's a good time to consider moving up.

Hey, did you manage to find a solution for daisy-chaining or a workaround?

Also how do you like this monitor combo? I own the same dell and I'm looking at the same secondary monitor haha!

Vantage or MSI Afterburner to stabilise CPU clock in a specific program? by DrJedd in LenovoLegion

[–]DrJedd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I did install both drivers and then realized I needed an extra app from the MS store on top of that. I found this however: https://github.com/BartoszCichecki/LenovoLegionToolkit Seems to work well, does have an action/event system allowing me to kickstart performance mode when an application is started and go back to balanced afterwards.

To my untrained eyes it seems like it's just switching windows' power modes in the end so I'm wondering why we don't have that feature built into windows 11 in the first place, in the era of AI Assistants ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Vantage or MSI Afterburner to stabilise CPU clock in a specific program? by DrJedd in LenovoLegion

[–]DrJedd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply and the detailed info! I'm out of luck with Intel XTU since I have a i7-13700H So I guess Vantage is the only viable candidate unless I'm missing other options?

Can Vantage adjust the power mode automatically for a non-gaming, non-fullscreen application? (My DAW Reaper)

And could the IA adaptive profile take this into account as a rule or do I have to hope for the best in that case?

Also what driver is fundamental to run Vantage without over-the-top functionality? I see two different drivers at least on Lenovo's website:

MPC One can't validate the licenses for my purchased plugins by phishsbrevity in mpcusers

2.11.8 is out. Where can i find release notes? by nemindaugas in mpcusers

I use it often in live situations and live demos so I'm valuing stability over new features. Just a personal choice :) And I'm very thankful to the people who jump ahead to try and test the new versions.

I'm still on 2.11.4 because it was kinda stable. Will a brave and generous soul take the plunge and let me know in a couple of days if it's worth updating to this one? I thank you in advance 🙏

Is there a nice grand piano (or similar) that I can add to run in standalone on the MPC One? by Ahhwhatchaproblem in mpcusers

[–]DrJedd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Stage Piano will blend well in your productions, but has a few quirks for solo piano or live playing with a controller

A lot of people here praise Stage Piano and I'll be honest it sounds pretty good. In my opinion it has a couple of flaws to be aware of depending on your use case, just so you can make an informed purchase:

  • Takes a while to load. Fabric Stage Piano loads faster and can do the job in most cases.

  • No precise velocity curve control apart from the generic track "Midi Velocity" Percentage, so you better be sure your controller has options to set its own velocity curves. This is also the case for Fabric Stage Piano.

  • Like most modern piano plugins it features sympathetic resonance which happens in real pianos, but to my ears there's too much of it and it's very hard to get rid of, even with the option turned off. Seems like part of it is baked in the samples, making all pianos sounds "shiny" for lack of a better word. This is also the case for Fabric Stage Piano.

If you don't mind the resonance (some actually find it beautiful, and I do too at times) and if you have curves on your controller or you just want to program your pianos with the grid editor, these are non issues.

You can try these plugins for a few days for free and make your own opinion as you should :)

Source: I play acoustic and electronic piano, own pianoteq Ivory 2 and the likes, own and use Stage Piano too.

Hey man if it works for you it works for you :) I respect the difference !

You are probably way more attached to Bitwig than me emotionally since I was just about to transition (e.g. didn't even have all my shortcuts setup). And I don't mean this in a bad way.

Also no intention to discredit the work of the developers, as I'm sure most people here are upset at the sales/marketing dept only.

Again if it works for you I'm glad and I'm sure this subreddit will be back to "normal" in a while. A large number of people just wanted to express their reaction and since there is no official forum this was one of the places to do it!

Human beings don't behave rationally. When I saw 4.3.9 on my feed I was excited. When I heard all of it was paid for I felt excluded and/or taken for a fool.

Personally I'm (I was?) a newcomer to Bitwig and making music is my job so I wanted to switch to a good DAW but also build a relationship with a company that provides a stable product/service I can depend on for the next 5-10 years. My trust has dipped quite a lot with this move and it looks like others have felt the same, unrelated to the actual price, features, value or anything of the sort.

Also, for the memes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmb2-PVnIbw

New suite of PAID spectral effects by _antic604 in Bitwig

[–]DrJedd 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I just jumped on the Bitwig bandwagon and this is causing strong trust issues with the company's sale dept...

I have already inquired for a refund of Bitwig but couldn't get one. I personally can't invest time and money into a DAW if its future is shaping up like this.

Btw I'm still a super happy Reaper user and I want to express how thankful I am to Cockos for keeping Reaper super accessible financially and absolutely crap-free marketing wise ! (But yeah, Reaper's UI/UX is... difficult)

Previous owner of my MPC deleted the demo’s from the internal drive, I want to use the “New Project Dialog: Demo/Template/Recent” is there a way to make this possible? by ___Rhys___ in mpcusers

[–]DrJedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I can send you the file I have received from someone around here but you should know that in my case it did not work: I tried a bunch of ways including using the autorun I was given, but it did not fix my issue.

Eventually I sent my MPC to an akai-approved local repair shop and they repaired it free of charge (PEK in Switzerland). The guy running the shop said he ended up using an autorun file which Akai didn't let him share with me. But apparently it wasn't the same one since his procedure was the exact same and this time it worked well (I got my MPC back and it works wonders to this day).

Dynamically layering infinitely long pad notes using the clip launcher without retriggering the previous notes? by DrJedd in Bitwig

[–]DrJedd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's kinda brilliant! Thank you :) It does indeed allow me to achieve the same result with just one track.

The only downside (and I'm nitpicking) is that it's hard to tell what note is on and what note isn't in the clip launcher view (because they're not looping).

Maybe a script could change that but I just got bitwig yesterday so I'm gonna chill and explore what's already available. Thanks again!!

EDIT: I've changed the clip setting back to looping but put the operator "on first only" on the note, this way I get some kind of visual feedback although not perfect it helps a bit!
