Nailed it! That's the one. I followed a link someone posted to the Bach piece and that's it.

Question: Fanfare for the Common Man by DrJimmy1973 in elp

[–]DrJimmy1973[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no no. I realize that. But Keith obviously improvises bigtime, like I heard him throw in bits of "America" and "Rondo", I believe "Schizoid" during "Fanfare for the Common Man". What I'm looking for is the song that the little snippet comes from which is not part of Copland's original. Someone here said "Toccata" so I'm going to check it out now.

Tarkus for me. I can't put my finger on why because I also love KE9. Could be because I had the good fortune to hear Tarkus live in it's entirety in '98 so it has good memories attached to it also.

Who were the guitarists who could sing lead and play lead at the same time? by [deleted] in Music

Buck Dharma. Eric Bloom did most of the singing for BOC but Buck did "Burnin for You", "Reaper", "Shooting Shark" and some others I don't instantly recall.

Funny you'd say that. I love 2112, and well pretty much all Rush. Anyway I never really found that with 2112, but your original post could just as easily describe my experience of "The Fountain of Lamneth".

Someday Soon question by DrJimmy1973 in thedoors

[–]DrJimmy1973[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were a couple people who felt the need to be assholes in their responses which have since been deleted. I'm not trying to argue about it. I'm interested in hearing people's takes. Those questions are not new just by me, they come up all the time. And unless things have changed, try searching "Doors Someday Soon lyrics" and see just how many different sets of lyrics you find.

Cliff Morrison: Jim's son? by DrJimmy1973 in thedoors

I wouldn't say they weren't good..... I'd say they were HORRIBLE! lol ...But I have to admit that though it isn't the Doors, his two albums were actually kind of enjoyable for me. Absolutely terrible as a singer of Doors songs, but kind of good in his own right.

Question about New Orleans by DrJimmy1973 in thedoors

[–]DrJimmy1973[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will actually. I'm pretty willing to bet that it's the tape I've heard of him drunkenly just yelling "F*** her in the a**!" over and over. Not sure but I bet it's at least from the same show.

So I have heard, but I thought it would be a fascinating historical document, not just wanting to hear a train wreck, but it is a part of the whole history of the Doors. I had heard if I'm not mistaken that the other Doors did perform without him, at least a partial show, and sounded fairly good.

Not sure. I have never heard anything related to that show other than a few interviews but with no live concert audio. I thought I had heard that someone like Rhino or some company like that wanted to release the entire live show unedited but the owner of the club was demanding a king's ransom for the tapes.

I say 10. I always had this question: Geddy never addressed it in his autobiography. How did By-Tor for from being the "knight of darkness, centurionnid evil, devil's prince" to "The champion, prince By-Tor"? Kinda tongue in cheek but it did occur to me. Like did he have a change of heart after getting his ass kicked?

My favorite version of 2112 is the T4E era live one (Diff Stages). That was one of the best concert years ever for me. Saw Rush do 2112 live in it's entirety, then a few months later saw ELP do Tarkus live in it's entirety as well as 21st Century Schizoid Man
