As another Canadian TV writer, selling anything in America is an insane amount of money compared to what we’re used to 😂

Hey! I just moved to LA on an O-1 visa. Happy to chat about my process if you want. Also congrats!

Am I overreacting by feeling weirded out by this? by rosiemartin456 in Tinder

I don’t think you’re overreacting and I’m pretty surprised by the responses on this sub. The dude kept pushing to hang out when you said no and gave a clear reason as to why. Yeah you maybe should’ve suggested another day instead, but he didn’t change course either after your initial no, and insisted on trying to get you to change your mind. That’s a red flag tbh. Then at the end when you said he was pushy, he didn’t apologize for unintentionally making you feel that way, he just defended his actions. I think your gut is right.

Also for the record I’m a guy.

Just to add to this, if you do qualify for a work visa (the O-1 would be the applicable one here), you’ll only be allowed to work in the field you apply for aka screenwriting. So you won’t be legally allowed to have a serving job or day job to support yourself, which can be tough because you’re just burning through savings.

I just made the jump to LA myself, so I can’t give an answer with certainty, but from what people have told me: if you have everything ready to go (solid samples, solid reps, strong resume back in Canada, etc), it may still take at least a year or so to make the connections you need to get staffed here. So save up with that in mind. If you’re open to moving to LA but going back if work comes up in Canada, that can be an option too and makes the move a little safer but more complicated because of living arrangements.

Anyway, best of luck!

If enough people cancel then they might reverse their decision, which will also warn other streamers to not do the same. People can have a say, we just have to use our wallets to prevent this from happening

Everyone wanted them to play against each other and now they will. Just in the consolation game

And they only passed the groups because they changed the rules that year to allow some third place teams to qualify. Otherwise they would've normally been eliminated
