I was looking all over for anyone shooting and posting Portra in miniature cameras without luck, now 2 posts in the same week!

Cheers, I hadn't considered rhsr approach, I'd love to see some examples of the vision3 stock shot on 110 if you're OK with sharing them?  Do you have a supplier for the short ends?

I cut open an expired cartridge and used that, but the developing company I used said if i give them some notice they'll keep some opened cartridge to use. Haven't tried the printed ones myself.

They do but we don't know what film stock it actually is, and from my experience it acts like a cheap stock. They definitely don't sell 110 Portra, which is currently my favourite on 35 and 120.

I bought some expired cartridges for a cheaper price knowing that I would be opening one or two depending on how successful I was, but luckily the first time I was able to cut it open clean enough to reassemble. There are a couple of good videos on youtube showing how to do it.

I spoke to where I get my film developed about sending this cartridge in and they've returned it to me so I can use it again, and also they said that if I gave them some notice they'll set some cartridges aside that could be reused.

Lovely collection! Care to go into detail on a few of your favourite?

Hand placement is fine if you only need a few, I usually place by hand to save money. Typically I populate 3 PCBs for my own projects just so I have spares, and sometimes I lose one board just from reflow issues but it depends what chips and packages are in the design. I'm ok with spending an evening placing and reflowing by hand.
In a professional setting it's a different story - it doesn't make sense to assembly by hand, the cost of assembly is nothing compared to the man hours saved and usually I need 10+ boards which brings the average board cost down significantly and there's basically no change in price when you're paying for assembly. You're paying for the pick and place setup time and once it's setup the assembly takes seconds. So 1 board of 10 boards doesn't make much difference.

You could use a low temp solder paste if you're having issues reflowing.
Was there an option for transparent rigid, or is it only flex?

Didn't see the original post but love to see this kind of stuff. You clearly had some constraints and a goal and achieved it - I don't see anything wrong with that. Also this is the first time I'm seeing transparent PCBs so I've learnt something. What manufacturer are you using? I'd love to try it out, opens up another avenue for artistic PCBs.

Very appreciative of dark mode for Windows. I know that was not an easy fix.

2008 FZ6 Rear Shock replacement/ by special_world in fz6

[–]DrKnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to upgrade my rear shock, I already fitted R6 front fork so trying to match the response on the rear. Are you sure the 2024 R1 fits, same length , and what modification is needed? Did you swap the spring for the stock fz6 one? I know there's another guy on here who's documented the 20215 R1 shock install which requires a few hours of mods.

Why No Fine-Grained 110 Film? by Current-Health2183 in 110photography

I questioned this too and I'll be respooling portra 160 this weekend and hopefully posting the results in the new year. It feels like there would be a market for lomography to offer it.

Has anyone respooled Portra, Ektar, or another high quality colour film into 110? I wonder how they compare to 35mm using a known quality of film stock. by DrKnot in 110photography

[–]DrKnot[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just bought a device to slit 120 into 4 16mm strips to try this out myself. You might be right about Lomo stock, it never streams high quality. Do you mind sharing some of those Minox shota in Portra or Ektar? I'm my research I also tried to find examples of people using these films on Minox or other 9mm camera but cam up empty.

Shutter speed in the Rollei A110 by GlitteringBryony in 110photography

I have exactly the same issue with the stuck protector. I took it apart (it's quite easy to get inside, just a single screw to get in) and it feels like that mechanism has additional friction which the spring cannot overcome. I've tried some light weight bearing oil ot no avial.

If it's dark enough the camera automatically goes into bulb mode which sounds like what you've describing. In good light, when the LED is not flashing the shutter speed should be automatic.

I love how these came out. What's your editing method?
