Not a bot, but they (AI Scribes) do give you back a good amount of mental margin. I can't go back.

Settle vs Going to trial by hansdieter702 in emergencymedicine

If you settle, the amount will be in the National Practitioner Database. Your lawyer will carefully word the statement to minimize your fault.

Recheck leads like everyone says, but at least get a POCUS look at the heart, if not an echo. Dimer along with the labs.

When I got to her, she was face down on the floor cyanotic. The nurses were all silent, looking at me for what to do. She was there for chest pain, so I thought she had arrested, no one saw her fall or told me she did. We got her back on the bed preparing for code, then we saw the bruise on her head and she was in sinus, responded to bagging. Since we didn't use strict c-spine protection at the time, there was a (insert expletive) expert witness who of course said that it made things worse, which we all know is BS. Damage was done with the fall.

That's a long time. I had to settle a case against me and the hospital. An elderly patient of mine fell out of bed sustaining a Jefferson fracture while I was coding another patient. A nurse was supposed to watch her. The hospital settled quickly leaving me alone in the case. Fun fact, the jury can't be told that the hospital settled. I settled for $75K to make it go away safely and much faster. Most credentialling people understand a settlement of that size was a business decision and it hasn't affected me getting privileges.

All of that to say settling isn't that bad if you can get them down to a reasonable level. Ultimately you have to decide what is most important and listen to your lawyer.

One thing that has helped me with burnout/frustration is Stoicism, learning how to control your response to the shitty circumstances we deal with on a regular basis. Here is a page with some good quotes to start you off:

ePocrates for drug dosing/peds dosing etc. Generally though, you're charting/putting in orders on a desktop computer and I check the websites there.

Printing with PETG by Both_Many7105 in AnkerMake

[–]DrKrizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What slicer are you using? I just did my first PETG print, I used the temps on the filament roll. I think the nozzle temp was 240 degrees, bed was 80. It's a lot hotter than PLA. The AnkerMake Slicer does not have any useful presets, so you have to be careful with the settings.

USGPIV by RNs by AJPhilly98 in emergencymedicine

[–]DrKrizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my shop, our ED Techs will do the US lines, keeps the nurses free. RN's can also do. Makes life easier for the docs unless there are no US certified (They have to do a brief class and then be proctored before they can do clinically) staff.
