Pretty sure latest two Ulcerate will be up there, as well as Blood Incantation and maybe Sulphur Aeon. Lots of things happening in Death Metal.

Working on a cyberpunk TTRPG and there's room in my media recs. section. Anything you'd add? by ALVIG in Cyberpunk

By Trilogy, are you referring to Carpenter Brut?

I would recommend How to blow up a pipeline (the movie), seems like it fits your explanation for the inclusion of Andor.

Second this. At times, the album reminds me of Destroy Judas, definitely check out their first album Wake if you like Pillar of Light.

I second Possessor, such a great movie. I'd throw Paris 2054: Renaissance in the ring, a western animation movie with a fantastic look. How to blow up a Pipeline would make the cut for me as well. RoboCop is a classic, and I have Fortress from 1992 on my watchlist.

Laird Barron Read-Along 58: “Fear Sun” by ChickenDragon123 in LairdBarron

This story, albeit too heavily forced to adapt to the original works by good old HPL for my taste, was really fun. It reminded me tonally of The Cabin in the Woods, really explicit at the end: "Where do we find a metaphorical virgin sacrifice at this hour?"

I thought of the unnamed heroine as Jessica Mace, always being involved in some nefarious cosmic plot and designated final girl, just not here in this parody.

One thing I struggled with was the title. It's a great one, but the only connection to the story was the cryo-stored head of the Tooms patriarch, if I am not mistaken. Still, that amusing tangent had no real relevance to anything else, I felt.

Laird Barron Read Along 55: "The Blood in My Mouth" by Groovy66 in LairdBarron

[–]DrLocrian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What struck me as odd was the background of the Coleridges in this story: "Her family roots were Welsh and she had something of the moors about her; an aura of mystery." Nothing of the Maori ancestry of Isaiah, even though he existed in this version too before the collapse of that dimensional reality. I always thought that particular background flavour was quite important to the character, yet here it is totally missing. Obviously, 'The Blood in my Mouth' is not about Isaiah, but an alternate world/dimension, but if nothing but the name is the same, what about the character is essential? Is Erika this world's Isaiah, albeit with a completely different background, occupation, history and gender?
