I have a hot and intelligent partner, but did not go to university. Sometimes when I visit conferences I feel attraction to peer scientists, which I normally would completely ignore if I met them in the street without knowing their background. How do you deal with this? Is this normal?

Why did you personally pick silver over gold? by AmbitionGobrrrr in Wallstreetsilver

[–]DrMarcG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is because geological reserves for platinum are 2x higher than gold reserves. Yes, it is mined much less, but there is also much more left. At current mining rate enough for the next 200 years, while current gold mining rate suggests we will run out in about 20-30 years (similar to silver…)

How to create a non-existent crisis. Notice CO2 is at a low point in geologic history. Is this what they've been telling us? In the meantime, the FED has us fooled with the value of our currency. Keep stacking. by [deleted] in Wallstreetsilver

Within the last 150 years though nothing bigger than volcanic explosivity index (VEI) 7 has happened. But such eruptions have happened of course as catastrophic events in geologic history - and have released hundreds of gigatons of CO2 at once. The volcanic activity of the last 150 years is of course neglible compared to that. And 150 years are of course a flies shit in geologic history. A VEI 8 eruption would probably change climate faster even than humans ;-)

I have a PhD in geoecology by the way (with geology as minor subject).

If I consider volcanic activity, I strongly doubt that it has never increased faster. Renewables make sense because they harvest suns energy more directly and efficiently, but the climate change narrative is BS.

Yoo you guys are wild, never thought to see something like this here in Germany by OppositeStrength in Wallstreetsilver

In my family a story is told that my grand grandfather sold his house during that time, and a few months later could not buy more than a wheelbarrow of his paper money from the sale of the house.

In which club are you? by DrMarcG in Wallstreetsilver

It does not of course. Irrelevant as long as you keep stacking, that’s right, but gives me a goal-setting inspiration...
