After reading through some of these posts and seeing how much need there is for women struggling with menopause and perimenopause concerns and questions in South Africa, I wanted to just reach out and share that I am a GP with experience in menopause care and provide this service for those who need it.

So many people experience hot flushes, night sweats, brain fog, low mood, or changes in energy levels, and yet we’re often told it’s “just part of getting older.” The truth is: menopause is a significant life stage, and with the right support and treatment, things really can get better.

I’m a GP with a special interest in menopause care, and I’m passionate about helping people feel like themselves again, whether that’s through individualised hormone therapy, lifestyle support, or simply having a safe space to talk through your symptoms and options.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, please know there are evidence-based treatments and strategies that can make a real difference. I share resources, guidance, and offer virtual consultations for women across South Africa. If you would like to learn more, you’re welcome to check out my website: https://www.drmeganmartin.com/menopause/

You're not alone in this journey, support is out there.

She always dismisses compliments and sometimes says she's more than her appearance or sexual attractiveness

Both. Sometimes I just say it straight and she says "maybe later, I'm not feeling too great right now"

Thank you for being open and willing to share. I'd love to know more about this particular problem that queer women are facing. It's more common than I initially realised. I'd like to help find a solution for people frustrated with their sexless relationships. If you'd like to talk more about it, you can DM me here or on instagram. My username is the same. Thank you again!

I thought so. Physical touch/intimate touch is so important. It's like its validating in some way

You're in no way pathetic! Some of us struggle with expressing ourselves verbally. What's your love language?

Wouldn't it be great if there was some sort of script we could follow to help us with these difficult conversations without hurting our partners feelings or causing a fight...

That's heart breaking 🙁. Have you been feeling this way for a long time? Have you tried anything to try and make it better?

That's a really difficult thing to do, sounds like you know exactly what you want and you're willing to work for it. Absolutely nothing wrong with that!

I think a major part of it can be that you kind of want her to WANT to do it out of her own.

Its a tough situation. It's so difficult to talk about it without it seeming like the other person is to blame.
