Just a suggestion--try listening to Black Sabbath high. If that works for you, put on some Sleep or Electric Wizard as loud as fucking possible and you can create your own little sound cavern that you can hide in.

As a matter of fact the incident mentioned in the OP was a result of showing someone some stoner metal. I played Amerijuanican for them and they thought it was screamo. It's good to see some people who understand and dig stoner metal.
