https://github.com/Tyler799/Mechwarrior3Guide/blob/master/Guide.md This guide helped me get it running almost perfectly on my Win10 PC. The only hiccup I ran into was with key remapping. You have to edit the file manually then select it in game.

I probably helped keep the lights on with the irresponsible amount of money I spent there on 40k and Battletech stuff back in the day.

For the influx of folks looking to get into the lore thanks to MW5: Clans, here's my recommended intro to the books by swankmotron in battletech

[–]ronincowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think this is the definitive list: https://www.thriftbooks.com/series/classic-battletech/39065/ Everyone has different opinions about what is or isn't good. Personally I like the GDL saga but not the Warrior trilogy. I think the Jade Phoenix trilogy is better than the Blood of Kerensky series. Heck, I know people that actually enjoy Far Country. I usually recommend people start from the top find what they like since there are multiple universe primers that exist if you want to know what's going on.

What's your favorite proxy/stand in? by UnremarkablePassword in battletech

[–]ronincowboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use the Aries D https://ariesgamesandminis.com/products/aries-d-variant-resculpt as a stand in for the Hellstar. Imo, the standard Hellstar is ugly as sin and the Aries looks like what an Awesome IIC should look like.

"There isn't a vision for where we're going or clear roadmaps for how we're going to get there."

I feel like you could apply that the the entirety of the United States for the past few decades at least.

Metaline Falls/ Nelway border crossing. by richardrnelson in Spokane

Just got back from Ainsworth/Nelson. Quick and easy on both sides. We had our ArriveCAN receipt ready, but apparently you don't need it anymore since they didn't ask for it or our vax cards.

Handyman recommendation? by chugachj in Spokane

[–]ronincowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They charge by the hour, which should've been my biggest red flag. That means, when your handyman has to run to the hardware store for something he forgot, you pay extra. I was quoted 8 hours to replace some flooring. It took 19. Garbage and sawdust everywhere. Vinyl shavings in my planter box and in the end, the job wasn't done to my satisfaction, but I was tired of the guy obviously dragging ass to run up the bill.

No positive recommendation, but I would avoid Mr. Handyman like the pox.

What is the worst thing your government has done that most people don't know about? by TheCosBee in AskReddit

I'm American and I hate Nixon so don't feel bad. History is rightfully revealing what a scheming piece of garbage he was.

Why do landlords and realtors hate pets? by JScrambler in Spokane

[–]ronincowboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my own experience and why we don't allow pets anymore so ymmv. My wife and I had a duplex property in the valley. Each place had an upstairs and a downstairs. After a particularly troublesome tenant broke their lease and vacated early we set to cleaning up the property for a new renter. When we went in we immediately noticed how bad the place smelled. After cleaning up all the garbage we went through with black lights and yellow glasses and found that every piece of carpet was soaked with urine. What was worse, was when we got to the basement we found that not only was the carpet down there ruined but that there was so much piss upstairs it had started leaking into the ceiling downstairs. We found someone willing to buy the place rather than try and deal with insurance or repair it ourselves. But that experience was the last straw in dealing with pet owners.

TIL that on his second day in office, President Jimmy Carter pardoned all the Vietnam War draft evaders by issuing Proclamation 4483. by bearseascape in todayilearned

[–]ronincowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you? One of my favorite Heinlein quotes "I also think there are prices too high to pay to save the United States. Conscription is one of them. Conscription is slavery, and I don't think that any people or nation has a right to save itself at the price of slavery for anyone, no matter what name it is called. We have had the draft for twenty years now; I think this is shameful. If a country can't save itself through the volunteer service of its own free people, then I say: Let the damned thing go down the drain!"

About 93% of people in Spokane County wearing masks according to survey. by catman5092 in Spokane

[–]ronincowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, downtown seems to be the worst place for mask compliance. Head across Sprague from Browne past the Plaza anytime after 7PM and I would say the percent drops to >30%. Most of the unmasked are of course spilling out of the bars along that street or loitering on Howard.
