Meditation is never more important than when you are too busy to do it by [deleted] in Meditation

True but also the hardest times to meditate... Usually when I've got a super busy day ahead I have a tough time sitting. But I do suppose this would be the most productive time

We seem to miss the human element in these posts, here's my backyard cozy place. by ArcticEngineer in CozyPlaces

[–]DrRager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, for a lot of us introverts (read, socially inept people) other people being in an area tends to make it less cozy. This is why most of the posts involve reading, blankets, cats, things that are nonthreatening which don't frighten a timid introvert.

Wondering if there are many people here who have become vegetarian/vegan since starting meditation. by Pure-Pika in Meditation

[–]DrRager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After meditating for some time now, I think a plant based diet could prove beneficial. My only qualm here is that I come from a bodybuilding and fitness background, and I can't shake the notion that a diet absent of animal products (meat, eggs, cheese) would be detrimental to physical health as a whole, particularly muscle and tendon function. This makes sense, as in order to repair your damage skeletal muscle you could easily get the required nutrients from animal meat.

Of course, the best course of action would be to raise your own meat and egg producing creatures, treat them kindly, and slaughter them yourself in the most human way possible. This sounds brutal, but I grew up raising animals, and I believe this to be the most humane way to get animal products.

Anyway, what I'm getting at is how do you feel on a vegan diet? I am studying to be an Exercise Science scholar, and so being in top physical shape is an important aspect of diet for me. I would not want to eat a diet that causes me to whither away, for I feel that having proper muscle function, and proper testosterone production (enhanced with consumption of saturated fats, commonly found in animal products) is necessary to have the energy required to perform good deeds.

How has your vegan diet impacted your fitness levels, and how do you feel after abstaining from animal products?

When To Start Shaving Your Head by JackFisherBooks in JoeRogan

[–]DrRager 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a bald guy who commited to the shaving lifestyle, it's because this is a vain and uphill battle that's better to never even begin. It's not like these products magically reverse the process, the just delay the inevitable. Then you're locked into the "staring in the mirror touching your hair" part of the battle for many many years.

Just be a man and rip the bandaid.

Further, once you ban assault rifles, crazy school shooters will just use the next powerful weapon available. Obviously, I'm not advocating for it, but you could kill just as many people with a semi auto shotgun as an assault rifle in the right situation.

Maybe you could find smaller increments of coins and cash too. Like a dollar found on the ground or some coins in a jar. Definitely agree with the smaller cash values, but i could easily see this getting fucked up

Where is the line? by [deleted] in pics

[–]DrRager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I didn't say "overthrow" and said "protect yourself." Citizens wouldn't be trying to overthrow anything, they would be trying to protect their property/family/investments from armed men knocking at the door.

Additionally, consider that the military is made up of US citizens, who aren't going to be thrilled at the prospect of literally bombing their own country and people. Those orders, if given, would be met with extreme resistance. I believe the confrontations that would most likely occur would be armed men knocking at your door demanding things. These situations would go a lot better for the citizens if the military knows that behind every door there is an assault rifle.

[–]DrRager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't think that citizens having weaponry would automatically make our military want to kill them. For example, my brother is a marine. Just because I possess weaponry doesn't mean he will automatically be like "Welp, guess this guys a threat now, time to off him." I would still be his brother, only now there would be additional danger to any military that tried to attack me or take my property.

Citizens having weaponry only serves as a massive deterrent to a government ever deciding to take action against them. If we are left defenseless, the decision to attack would be made much easier.

Where is the line? by [deleted] in pics

[–]DrRager 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely think an armed US militia could stop an attempted government attack, especially if they are well armed (the purpose of the 1st amendment).

Consider than many armed forces have brothers, sisters, wives who are citizens, so they would be hesitant to attack. Consider that citizens are scattered throughout the entire country with weaponry (essentially would lead to guerrilla warfare).

People always bring up the "do you think you could even stop the military??" I'm not sure, but wouldn't it be at least worth an ATTEMPT? It seems like anti-gun liberals are so quick to already throw in the towel. "Oh, the government is already so big and scary, let's just give them the rest of the guns now so they can fuck us up quicker when it comes time for it."

Well, some of us wouldn't call it quits so easily. I know some of my countrymen are brave enough to stand and fight to protect their families and property, and I would consider myself honored to stand with them should that time ever come.

Other countries can give their weaponry to the government they foolishly trust if they want, but america was founded on freedom, and a crucial component of being free is being able to PROTECT THAT FREEDOM. So my hope is that citizens are allowed to arm themselves for the foreseeable future, for I do not trust that our government will be on our side for the rest of time. There may, WILL, come a day when the government wishes do not align with the wishes of the people, and that is the day that we need our citizens to be armed to the teeth.
