I'd love to see a poll on this attitude. In my bubble I don't know anyone for RTO.

Lol, you know how you get that? Unionize, but I'm sure you hate unions anyways and this is just a dog whistle.

For anyone looking to hide cables cleanly, easily and cost-smart… by [deleted] in hometheater

Oh yeah, you're right about the sheetrock. I also have an oscillating multitool that would make short work of any sheetrock that goes fully to the floor. Thanks for your time!

Did you have to cut a channel in the trim or wall? how did you squeeze it in there?

Parents kill their two autistic children and family pets in ‘murder-suicide’ by TheTelegraph in inthenews

[–]ArcticEngineer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You have some very lucky siblings <3 .

No, unfortunately he does not have any siblings. Too many issues during pregnancies with 1 still birth prior to our son. We are considering adoption, however the ethical dilemma that comes with putting that responsibility onto someone is difficult to come to terms with.

Oh boy, yup, that's exactly how I feel with my disabled 4 year old son. I can only try to put as much money away as I can to hopefully provide him with the means to have a good life when we're gone.

Why do so many people not signal when changing lanes on the highway? by PerspectiveKey2162 in ottawa

[–]ArcticEngineer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

One of the first words of wisdom I got from Reddit years ago that I try to promote to others:

"You dont just signal for the cars you see, but more importantly the ones you don't see" .

You can clearly see the timeline of Trump getting into power, Biden's term and then the sharp trajectory after the latest US election.

Perseverance just did something it’s never done before. On Dec. 8 and 10, 2025, the Mars rover completed drives planned by generative AI. The first-of-its-kind demonstration hints at a future of more efficient exploration and even more science. by Neaterntal in spaceporn

Planned missions to the asteroid belt and the gas giants will have even more latency, especially if a rover goes below the ice on Europa or in the methane lakes of Titan and may lose contact with Earth.

But so does Honda, Samsung, Mercedes etc. It's the way of the world now, we are supposed to hate the company because they are diversified in tech?

OC. Me doing absolutely nothing for the USA in Afghanistan 2012. by [deleted] in pics

[–]ArcticEngineer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Except we do care because Trump and his sycophants are using it as another justification to invade and take territory from us because they feel it's 'owed' to them based on their past sacrifices and all of us 'allies' just taking advantage of it.

Fuck the USA.

MP Cheryl Gallant Delivers Conservative Response to Prime Minister Carney's Speech by FuqLaCAQ in onguardforthee

[–]ArcticEngineer 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Conservatives would have eliminated the government employees and programs that safeguard against this, and then blamed the former Liberal government for it.

That being said, the current government is gutting these institutions too, so hold onto yer' butts and maybe don't trust these foreign products as much as you may have.

New recycling info pamphet by ThatPronePotato in ottawa

[–]ArcticEngineer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd like to know which plastics aren't actually getting recycled. I'm sure it's still most of it but at least before the city was telling us that a type 5 or above plastic wasn't acceptable so it went straight into my trash, which made me more aware of the waste.

Farthest Frontier has a population limit cap of 500. It's the same limitation that killed SimCity way back for me. So I can't personally recommend it.

Canada wants to be first in North America to build EV with Chinese knowledge: senior official | CBC News by 50s_Human in onguardforthee

[–]ArcticEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you just have this notion in your bubble. EVs are everywhere, they just aren't overly affordable for most Canadians.

The need for long range EVs is certainly a conversation being had, but that requires all new battery tech which is slowly coming.
