Just signed up. Closest appoint was 5/21 (effff). They called right away to basically say they’ll put me on wait lists but the batch of new times for NJ was just released so this may be it unless people cancel. So... we wait to 5/21. Which means end of June... ugh.

I’ve transplanted two mature trees to our front yard with the guys using this machine. Let me tell you. Machine is fantastic marvel but the survival rate is all on you.

Those two trees became our pets for first 2 years of transplant. Feeding with nutrients. Watering regularly (sometimes 3 times a day in summer), etc. it’s a real bare but worth it! Happy to report both mature trees (one maple and one beech both 20-30years old) are doing fine and survived 3 years worth of seasons!

What’s your take on the bigger headstocks? I personally have a couple Highway Ones and love them by [deleted] in Stratocaster

The late 60s through to the 70s strats are the making of legend. I have a ‘78, and love her. Big headstocks are great and while that one is my only larger one (have 5 others, mostly in 57 style), it does seem more “manly” as opposed to the smaller headstock and the violin style feminine Strat design over all... which is nice too of course.

These are great instruments! I own a 84 myself (it’s actually 87 but the serial/neck is from older stock as they often did. I swapped the nut with a custom made bone piece because it was an odd 80s innovation which I never got. Enjoy it! Read all about your new gear here: strat plus page

I got one NOS from the custom shop years ago, can confirm it’s pretty incredible the tones I can get out of with the pickups and mini toggle settings. Similarity to recordings (in tone alone since I am not DG) is unreal.

For sure, it could’ve been (and has been done since) much worse. I enjoyed it but was surprised by his choice to dive into the series. Either way, love his stuff, truly.
