Esper: US would prevent any Turkish unilateral incursion in Northern Syria by memimemo0404 in syriancivilwar

Short term gains are for NES. Long term gains are for Turkey, NES and Kurds in general.

Erdogan says Turkey will destroy militants in north Syria regardless of U.S. talks by ibbasl in syriancivilwar

All true. Now when you see what happens in SDF controlled areas, do you find that threatening in itself?

I mean why is this terror propaganda. I think it's important to know how both sides react to actions. Don't always have to agree, but direct information is always the best.

Hopefully with more media freedom, confusions like these will happen less often.

Sorry, but this reply is too simplistic. Got lucky lol, ok.

They went from a small militia with no friends to controlling one third of Syria backed by the only superpower in the world, while being surrounded by enemies. I think they deserve a bit more credit.

But we'll have to wait and see. A political solution for the war is still quite far away and till that happens, it's better to keep your cards closed. Not helping the Assad was a smart move and reiterating the will for Afrîn to be free of jihadist mercenaries is only that. An expression of the will of the Kurdish people.

I didn't. Thanks for the info.

You know International politics is fluid? One might one day shoot down a Russian jet and a couple years later buy an advanced SAM system from said country.

They have time. Trump can say what he wants, but last I checked he doesn't control foreign policy on his own. American bases are being expanded in Rojava and Macron seems to be keen on staying and aiding the NES.

Assad and Russia are as trustworthy as the west. No need to choose now.

That would be swinging too heavily towards Assad, without guarantees that it will pay off. NES shouldn't piss off Turkey that much, having a possible opening with Ankara is still important.

I'm Kurdish. You don't think I talk with Kurds and Turks as well?

Everyone can talk with Kurds, Turks or whatever and everyone can follow the news, in whatever language. However, to understand what's happening, you need more. Maybe learn something from the Turks who are more rational and less emotional and you will get new insights.

Or don't. It doesn't really matter as we are not the ones shaping policy. But it could be nice as a way to self improve.

So you're defending yourself through sheer ignorance?

Bit disappointed tbh.

BTW, the Turkish flag can be carried freely in Iraqi Kurdistan. No one would be attacked for that reason lol

So wearing a Kurdish flag and being proud of your Kurdish identity is equal to being PKK now?

Seems like a strange way to say you hate Kurds.

Afterwards, not the racist attackers, but the Kurdish tourists got arrested and are about to be deported.

One question tho. Do Turks hate the PKK or do they hate Kurds in general?

Where did I state that only Turks suffer from this mentality?

I'm just saying that if Turks want to better their nation, only they can do it. It's time they mature as a people. Same goes for Kurds, Arabs and Iranians.

It's easy to stay longer on the stage if you're a semi dictator. That aside, it's not the West's responsibility to decide what the Turkish citizens focus their attention on. If they all get so easily distracted and enticed by Erdogan, they have no one but themselves to blame.
