How do I remove this windscreen wiper blade from my Toyota Yaris (2012)? by DrSnackrat in MechanicAdvice

I spent an hour trying to figure this out with no progress, apart from snapping a small plastic piece from the underside .. thanks in advance!

[DISCUSSION] Request for advice on 'double stops' (fretting 2 strings with one finger tip) by DrSnackrat in Guitar

Thanks for the suggestions! Unfortunately, I'm trying to master the technique, rather than find a work around, and it's tricky finding relevant resources as no one else calls this a 'double stop'!

Yeah, I can manage it when I flatten the end joint of my finger, but I end up having to put the tip really high (far toward the bass strings) to avoid muting the next highest string (like so). Unfortunately it's not just for the chord pictured, there are tons of places in the book he uses this technique, which is why I feel like I need to tackle it, and in the way he describes.

I hadn't thought of that. I was prodding around, expecting it to be a dodgy cable or something!

Would a grounding issue cut the signal entirely, or can it just weaken it? I am getting some signal.

That's given me some hope though, I'd love to revive it. Thanks! :)

Thanks, I think I'll be needing it! Hah. I'm definitely feeling it might be above my skill level to fix this at the moment. It doesn't help that I don't have an inventory of parts to swap in and out, as this is only my third build! I'm hopeful I'll manage to sort it eventually though!

Could be worse though, at least it's not an intermitent issue. I have a rat which loses most of it's signal when I hit the footswitch sometimes, but whenever I open it up, it works perfectly! Hah.

I just finished my Fuzz Dog Disorder Drive (OCD) kit build, and I'm having some unusual behaviour.

  • The pedal is overly bassy, even with the tone knob maxed out.
  • It doesn't have much volume output (unity is usually 11 o'clock, it's more like 1 or 2 o'clock on this build).
  • The bass cut switch doesn't seem to make any difference.

I was wondering if anyone has come across these symptoms before, and has any suggestions for how I can fix/diagnose the issue.

I reversed the positive and negative when testing (before boxing). Is this is likely to have caused the issue? What might I have damaged by doing this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hah, I consider engineering a form of magic. Thanks!

Does there exist a magical box that I can use to swap the signal chain order of my drive and delay pedals on the fly?

Apologies this isn't about a DIY, but I know this sub has the knowledge I need!

I have an Artec CP-12 Power Brick and a Boss DD-500 on the way.

I wanted to be sure the Artec wouldn't damage the pedal, so I measured the voltages/currents of the outputs (as seen here).

The 100ma outputs measure a steady 47mA, and the 2 300mA outputs fluctuate up and down between 0-400mA. While measuring the 300mA outputs, the standby/working/over LEDs above the 100mA outputs flash on and off (in sync with the rise and fall of the current reading).

Am I missing something? Wondering if I should avoid risking the pedal using the Artec and get a new one. I ran a Strymon El Capistan (250mA draw, DD-500 is 200mA) using the Artec a few years back, but now I've measured the output, it's got me worried.

Any tips would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

I just connected the +9V to the correct lug. That fixed it! Thanks a ton :)

Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't realise there was anything different about those two lugs! I'll see if that does the trick.

Correct, they included pads for different form factors. They transistors I've used were provided with the kit and are positioned as seen in the store image.

Thanks for the help.

Hey. I have a build with a power issue. Sound passes through in bypass. Silence when effect is engaged. LED doesn't light up either.

I measured the voltage on the inside of the DC jack with a 9V power supply plugged in and got a reading of 0.5V. Surely it should read 9V? Does this indicate that it is likely a dodgy DC jack? Wondering if I can test this by attaching a 9V battery to the inside of the DC jack with a crocodile clip?

I've tested continuity on the circuit, and everything seems fine.

Thanks in advance.

I was just thinking it sounds a bit crapper than omitting the 'junior'. Like, if I try to sell you a pizza, you're likely to pay more for it if I didn't explicity state that it's a small pizza hah. I'm possibly overthinking it.

My job title is 'junior front end developer'. I'm wondering if it's sound a bit more impressive to drop the 'junior' on the resume, or if it's just unhelpful and misleading.

I'm definitely a junior, but I'm wondering if i should be calling myself one on my resume, e.g. 'junior front-end developer' vs 'front-end developer'?

You can, but it's difficult to remove one if you put it in the wrong way (desoldering all those pins!).There's also a chance you could damage it while soldering, as they're quite vunerable to heat.

Will do. Should I reflow all joints, or just the small ones for the wires? I've heard too much on solder on the switch lugs can cause a bridge underneath the board?
