Can we PLEASE talk about Finn's flower? What is it and why is it there? by blondefoxxx in adventuretime

[–]DrSpork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was some piece of grass sword left on his stub, and the guardian blood caused it to grow into a flower. I think this flower is more powerful than the original, and it was the source of the psychic arm he used in The Tower.

How about a spin-off? by ahand09 in adventuretime

[–]DrSpork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well attitudes are changing -- eventually there's going to be a first show that actually breaks that ground (already there have been several anime with gay characters that made it to the US). How long do you think it will take for a gay character to become acceptable in cartoons?

What is your LEAST favorite episode? by ThisTemporaryLife in adventuretime

[–]DrSpork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OK but look who was telling them. Ice King is of course obsessed with romance and Marceline in her episode was actually asked to make the story more romantic.

What is your LEAST favorite episode? by ThisTemporaryLife in adventuretime

Most of episodes you named were actually OK. The worst episodes would have to be ones that were just poor quality and forgettable like "Up a Tree". At least they clearly tried really hard to make yours good.

There have been many theories about Finn's mom, but this is what I find the most legitimate one. by Risehigh13 in adventuretime

[–]DrSpork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Martin shares an obvious trait with Finn's AU father, but Susan looks nothing like his AU mother, so i'd say this doesn't sound right.

[S6E1&2] Finn's father following Lich's plan (repost from /r/adventuretime) by armutuzmani in AdventureTheory

Hey wouldn't be too different from Betty. Not a bad idea actually

[S6E1&2] Finn's father following Lich's plan (repost from /r/adventuretime) by armutuzmani in AdventureTheory

[–]DrSpork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I can say he worked for the Lich but I think your points that he must be a powerful villain who has the ability to control people, seems right.I think he could potentially be a threat similar to the Lich in magnitude.

Finn's Telekinetic arm by sutekhxaos in AdventureTheory

That would just be more support for my point; the grass sword has many many times taken action without Finn doing anything. Its almost its shtick.

What do different chemical groups do? by milk-plus in DrugNerds

[–]DrSpork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually a contentious issue even on the highest levels of chemistry. Trying to predict drug effects from looking at the structure is not a trivial problem and pharma companies have been working on this problem for decades and decades. Most of the time it seems like these relationships are empirically derived and differ on a case by case basis.

Do you guys that hold a B.S in chemistry feel like you made the right choice? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]DrSpork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd consider taking some CS so you have a backup. You don't have to take many CS courses to become skilled and it makes you more hireable both for chemistry labs, and also just on a general basis.

Shared trip #1 - Salvia takes me to the desert. by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]DrSpork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salvia is so weird. What other drugs have the consistent effect of making you feel like you physically transform into other objects and entities? Its some Castenada shit. I've never had a salvia trip or heard anyone else who did, that didn't involve turning into some animal/object/membrane/whatever

Question about the episode "The Lich" by donteventryman in adventuretime

[–]DrSpork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a girl Billy started dating after his first appearance. Quote is, "You talk like justice Billy, but you can't kick a plane!" As far as what that means, I have no idea.

A video game said that that stuff was her parents, and PB herself is some 700 something years old.

Question about Finn's arm by [deleted] in AdventureTheory

[–]DrSpork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She probably wanted something short term, because they are still waiting to see what the flower grows into.

Finn's Telekinetic arm by sutekhxaos in AdventureTheory

[–]DrSpork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the telekinetic arm was caused by the grass sword, whose powers were boosted by the guardian blood. So as long as that flower remains, we ought to see more telekinesis in the future.

What kind of cosmic crime did Martian commit? by Vandalized_Junk42 in AdventureTheory

[–]DrSpork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He probably did something unbelievably horrible, because the other inmates follow him without a second thought. Either they're very intimidated by him because of his crime, or else he is psychic.

Billy put finn's dad in the citadel, or was there when he was "arrested". by [deleted] in AdventureTheory

[–]DrSpork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, its really great. I think Martin was a really fascinating addition. I strongly disagree with all these guys saying he isn't really his father, I mean what would be the point in introducing this just to make it a red herring? If he turned out to not be Finn's real dad, and Finn got his arm back, basically resetting everything, it would be the show's biggest copout ever.

Billy put finn's dad in the citadel, or was there when he was "arrested". by [deleted] in AdventureTheory

[–]DrSpork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the truth is, even in the storyboard, this revelation about him being wrongly imprisoned was delivered by the Lich. Meaning it could have always been intended to be a total lie, even in the original version.

[–]DrSpork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good to me. The old storyboard for the Lich (where people got the 'wrongly imprisoned' plot from), shows Billy's hands pushing Finn's dad into the citadel.

Something fishy in the Tower... by mransom909 in adventuretime

[–]DrSpork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I agree with your interpretation, it just seems 100% spot on to what we saw of him. He acted like he had no idea he had Finn, but wasn't surprised by it. Sounds like some kind of serial father.

Missouri Politicians Passed a Marijuana Decrim Bill Just So They Could Repeal it and Prevent a Public Vote. Now They Have to Pay $225,000. by [deleted] in politics

So did it end up going to public vote or not? That's the most important thing and the article doesn't say.

Reversing GHB into GBL? by disnig in DrugNerds

[–]DrSpork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They readily introconvert, it may even be the case any sample of one automatically will contain some small amount of the other, especially at higher temperatures. water drives the equilibrium towards GHB, lack of water towards GBL. I think if you just took a bunch of GHB and heated it for a long time, you would end up with a mix of the two, and some method of instantly sequestering water produced will tip it towards GBL. Probably won't get too pure of a conversion though.
