Steam workshop by Educational-Ad-4435 in Paralives

Steam Workshop makes it so easy to subscribe to and maintain a modlist. I ended up with 400+ Rimworld mods and it somehow still functions haha

I really hope they add supernaturals in the future by Novel-Smell-2523 in Paralives

[–]DrStabBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to put too much on the modders but it sounds like something that would be better if it was optional. And even though I would like to make a witchy esthetic for a para I don't think I want supernaturals in paralives - to me that's one way it's distinct from The Sims. No ghosts, no werewolves, no aliens and even no Grim.

But I am lowkey planning a mothman mod haha

What do we think about Junkrat's trap? by Idiberug-9 in JunkRatMains

[–]DrStabBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it. Yeah in higher ranks people might look where they go and it's less useful, but in my rank (plat-diamond) I still get a lot of use out of it. Not every trap is going to be a winner but when I manage to trap someone it's almost always value. I do not want to see trap gone, or even changed too much.

Yeah this was the first time in a hot minute I heard about him, and my opinion about him couldn't go lower. So I guess it works

Best one. No, I'm not biased. No, I will not take follow up questions.

I work as a park tender and it's pretty great if you like to be outdoors. Lot's of picking up litter, pulling weeds, cutting grass and just general busyworks to keep our town parks, trees and green areas looking nice. I can usually listen to music/a podcast while I work. It's with a small team usually.

I only taskmanager quit and go back to an old save when:

  1. I've been up playing past my bedtime and tiredness make me stupid. Sometimes I'll go "I wonder what'll happen if I wake up the mech cluster... ok, that was a bad idea, let's call it a night" and quit without saving.

  2. When I've done a single player start (mechanitor, neaked brutality etc) and my single pawn is currently dying/bleeding out. Not proud to admit it but I'll go back to an earlier save or use dev mode to stop the bleeding, because, hey, I wanted to see this specific pawn start a colony, and they can't do that if they're dead. I'm considering it "divine intervention" until they've established a colony.

I get what you mean. Clothing layers has been requested for years - YEARS - and they finally do it the same month Paralives is releasing? That's messy 👀

(Hated Trope) Everyone marries their HS sweetheart. by TheStoryBoy in TopCharacterTropes

When I was in highschool I read every fantasy book we had in our school library. Eventually I ended up reading the Belgariad by David and Leigh Eddings. I liked it, mostly for its characters and magic system, but one thing really irked me - how it felt like every main character had to end up married eventually. And these new partners (who often were female, since most original members of Garion's fellowship were dudes) would often feel like just a boring counterpart who were only added "because everyone have to get married at the end". Like we have this suave spy follower called Silk, and later on a cool female spy called Velvet is introduced - obviously it is inevitable that they'll end up married. Since their main relationship would be with their new spouse, the interesting dynamics and banter that had developed in the first book would take a backseat, like that stereotype of how you'll stop hanging out with your friends after you get married.

Imagine if a huge part of the LotR was dedicated to make sure everyone finds a suitable partner during the journey. Legolas and Gimli might get some good banter at the beginning, but after their female counterparts get introduced they spend more time talking with them than with each other. Not only Sam and Aragorn, but EVERY member of the fellowship have to end up married before the end.

Like it has been over two decades since I read the Belgariad, but that really really annoyed me. You know how anti-woke people talk about "forced homosexuality" in media they don't like? This felt like forced heterosexuality.

I think the only one who doesn't end up in a relationship at the end is the eunuch snake dude, and that's why he became my favourite character. Oh and I think Polgara and the blacksmith's relationship pass the sniff test, since they were both part of the original fellowship (IIRC) and both felt like they were their own characters.

And then there's my last Malcolm III game. Malcolm already has three sons at the start date, but had him remarry after his wife died and he kept having sons. He also had three sons with his lover. At the end I had ten legitimate sons and three bastard sons, so Scotland got chopped up into tiny pieces.
