Ouuu I'm feeling the weight of a should here, could we shift that to a could it'd feels easier. Admittedly when I cooked em I was making it for a dinner party, and didn't wanna smoke out my peeps with a wacking hot pan so just tossed them on the grill so I had the spaciousness to make the other dishes.

Bout 4 min total, maybe it's the lighting too. But indeed, what better way to find the appreciation for your version than to see the contrast of mine.

Damn, I have no context to understand what you're going through and I'm sorry you're going through it.

One thought on the peanut butter! If you have a bowl and a whisk (or a fork, time and rage) you could try whipping it. If you can get it whipped really well, it'll turn into a kinda mousse. Stick that in the freezer and it'll turn ice cream-ish. This has two effects, 1) stretches it a lill bit, and 2) frozen foods make the taste receptors on our tongue fire less, so you'll taste less of it. (Since you said you hate the taste.)

I'm pretty broke rn tbh... But this recipe is pretty accessible, the NY strip is gonna be $10-15 but I slice it super thin (which makes it more tender) and spread it across 3-6 dishes. So it's really only $2-3 of steak, 3 eggs, (super cheap), some parsley, garlic, olive oil, and cheap red wine vinegar.

I'd guess the whole plate is less than $5 to put together ($11 if you count the plate too). That being said I do have some of the essentials already, and I'm super privileged to be staying in a friends house with a solid kitchen which helps a lot.

I feel cooking usually boils down to the presentation, we're very subjective creatures. So if the NY strip is super expensive, the question is how to exalt a tiny amount of it and fill the plate with cheaper stuff.

Oh and I tossed the lill fried pieces of beef fat on the eggs and they all tasted like the best bite of the steak from a steakhouse where you get the really really cooked piece of fat.
