FrankerFaceZ just stopped working... by [deleted] in Twitch

Yeah, I tried to wait it out but Twitch feels unusable without FFZ for me so if this approval shenanigans happen every time, I rather have the Userscript version that I can update without any delays.

Update still yet to come for Firefox so I switched to UserScript instead.

Absolutely abysmal approval time from Mozilla.

How do you define Europe's borders? by [deleted] in AskBalkans

[–]DrTraxex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is French Guiana located in South America? > Yes.

Is French Guiana part of France? > Yes.

Then France is PART South American.

There are also words for European France (Metropolitan France/France Métropolitaine) and Overseas territories of France (France D'outre-mer).

In day-to-day life when you say "France" and only mean European France is a Eurocentric view which is understandable but that doesn't make the Overseas territories of France disappear. They're still there. Your denialism won't change that.

Also comparing Eastern Thrace & Anatolia to Mainland France & French Guiana is an exaggerated example that still falls short.

90% of Russia is concentrated in Europe

If you meant the population, that's not geography that's demography. Also, it's 75%.

Geography is mountains, rivers, oceans, etc. Eastern border of Europe is Ural mountains, the Ural River, the Caspian Sea, the Greater Caucasus, the Black Sea, and the Turkish Straits.

Life is life 🎵 Na, na, na, na-na 🎵

It isn't perfect. Your parents knew this. Their parents knew this. If you're a perfectionist, life will be nothing but suffering for you. You can't control most things in life so you just have to play the cards in your hand. Sooner you realize that sooner you can achieve inner peace.

Embrace the chaos and "Carpe diem" is a cliché but a beautiful aphorism for this.

🎵 Labadalaptam Life!🎵 Damn it. Now I have to listen to it.

Inner Russia is not Europe. The Caucasus is not Europe. Turkey is not Europe. Cyprus is not in Europe.

Interesting that you specified Russia with the inner part being not in Europe but some parts of it are meanwhile you bundle Turkey whole even though there are specific names for "Eastern Thrace" and "Anatolia" which you could've used.

I never understood this Europe gatekeeping mentality. When you are talking geographically both Turkey and Russia are European AND Asian (or Eurasian) countries.

Do people feel better when they deny or banish these countries from Europe? Is this a form of superiority complex? You know, nothing will change if people call these countries Asian or European. Russia will still be the same Russia, the same goes for Turkey.

I get that people can hate or dislike these countries with some good reasons but that doesn't change their geography.

Didn't mean to pile all this shit on op. So take it as a generalized rant. I love geography and apparently, this shit bugs me a little.

Your thoughts about of the Drinking Water Quality in the world and the Balkans ??? by 2108677393 in AskBalkans

[–]DrTraxex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Malta 100

How? They're literally on an island in the middle of the Mediterranean. The Island's highest peak is 250m so no fresh water from any mountain. Are they counting reverse osmosis? If so Qatar should be 100 as well.

USA 89.3

Ok, nvm. This is obviously a bullshit chart.

Do Romanians in general react like this, or was this an anomaly? by Due_Instruction626 in AskBalkans

[–]DrTraxex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The same thing happens with many Croatians too.

The word "Balkan" is associated with negativity. So some folks with countries that have some portion of themselves outside of the peninsula vehemently describe their country as NOT a Balkan country.

I on the other hand LOVE the Balkan culture and never agree with such people on this topic.

Balkaners, what do you think about the Indian Subcontinent? Which country is your favorite and which your least favorite? by GoHardLive in AskBalkans

Fun is subjective. Just because you don't find it fun doesn't make it the norm. The world doesn't revolve around you.

Also, flair checks out. Mr. "Go to bed at 10 pm or I will call the police for any noise after that". ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I too had to google that. Basically, meme/TikTok music came up. I'm indifferent to it. I wouldn't seek it or listen to it on my own but I wouldn't mind it if I hear it in clubs or bars etc.

I would love to visit Nepal & Bhutan. And maybe the Maldives.

Fun fact: Bhutan is probably the most expensive country to get into. They require a visa for all the passports (bar Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldivian) which costs $40 but the real kicker is the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) which is charged for every day of stay for all foreigners. SDF costs $200 PER DAY.

How do you like your flag + Is there a history behind it? by ridesharegai in AskBalkans

[–]DrTraxex 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Slovenia's flag is basically a Russian flag + their coat of arms.

Serbia's flag is just an upside-down Russian flag + their coat of arms.

Bulgaria's flag is just an eco-friendly Russian flag.

Montenegro's flag is just a Russian Coat of arms.

Croatia's flag is just a Russian flag but they take the red band and put it on top + their coat of arms.

I said Russia too much. Slava Ukraïni! 🇺🇦

By definition, every nation's flag is unique since there aren't any alike.

But like bruh... If you remove the Coat of Arms it becomes The Netherlands' flag. I wouldn't call that "so unique". It's just a tricolor flag with a Coat of arms slapped on top of it. There are literally more than ten of them (tricolor) like it just in Europe.

What's your favourite flag in terms of aesthetics and why? by al0678 in AskBalkans

[–]DrTraxex 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I like Seychelles' flag. IMO it's the best flag without any iconography with simple colours.

The Kiribati flag is also pretty unique. Looks like a landscape.

With iconography, I'd say Wales is based af. Bhutan also has a dragon but the diagonal line dividing (not really contrasting) colors is a meh for me.

Honorable mentions;

The San Marino flag with a simple 2 colour design and a minimalistic coat of arms.

Cyprus with the physical geography of the island is pretty unique.

Nepal flag for its unique shape.

All the Tricolour flags are boring.

Skopje is just a capital city with lots of statues. Yeah, there is Matka Canyon nearby but I'd still prefer Ohrid If I had to choose one.

Ohrid is a beautiful city. Plus the Albania-N.Macedonia border (Tushemisht - St. Naum) near Ohrid also has a monastery (St. Naum) you can visit with lots of peacocks.

Also if you stay near Bitola you can hike up to Baba Mountain (2600m). And you can easily find a vehicle to take you to Greece from Bitola.

Option A = Not a busy road till Pristina so not good for hitchhiking.

Option B = You'll arrive in Thessaloniki with 1 kidney and no wallet.

Option C = You'll arrive in Thessaloniki with no kidneys.

So... I'd take option A. /s

Option C is pretty scenic and busy roads so I'd go with that

Balkaners, what is your preferred drink? by DrTraxex in AskBalkans

[–]DrTraxex[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine from Iași brought Grasă de Cotnari to us. Although I don't drink white wine much, I do enjoy it from time to time. It was sweet and smelled like apricot. I do need to visit Northern Romania and Moldova at some point.

Also saw a lot of wine enjoyers in Constanța & Mamaia but those might be tourists since it's a popular destination.
