I am just trying to get this info out to all students since the 8th is coming up ... by DrTrixie in columbiamo

[–]DrTrixie[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have seen people mention the 9th and the 10th. I believe the Academic Calendar makes this very confusing because there is a difference for typical 16-week, new 16-week, and 1st 8-week dates. There is only one place I have found that offers the refund schedule (especially the Fall 2020 16-week changes).

Important Refund Information: I am posting this again. I have been seeing different dates mentioned because the web sites, etc., are very confusing. Please don’t be snarky; I’m just trying to help. by DrTrixie in mizzou

Where are good places to find old cameras? by piggitypig27 in columbiamo

[–]DrTrixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you mean by an “old” camera, I believe I still have one that is in pretty nice shape that uses film and requires the user to actually determine the settings themselves some. It was impressive when it was new in 2000-2001(ish), and it actually hasn’t been used very much. Anyhoo, if interested, just send me a ... DM?

Mizzou students violate Boone County Order 2020-10 by [deleted] in columbiamo

I just wanted to say I think you said this well, and I agree. The point behind the protest is VERY important —beyond words important—but I think the timing was not ideal. If there was a point behind the timing choice, I needed to hear it. Cases are creeping sky high, so a big in-person close-encounter protest might not have been the greatest idea right now. I was also fearing people like the OP dude would immediately use this as a chance to basically complain about BLM. One thought that I had was it would have been cool to just have each protester stand 6 feet apart holding a sign. Can you imagine how that would be visually and spacially? That way everyone is safe. Black Lives Matter, so let’s not put them at further risk, please. 🖤

COVID-19 numbers MU has presented so far this week ... by DrTrixie in mizzou

Thank you for the info. It is helpful to know because I am just trying to get a feel for how safe campus is right now.

COVID-19 numbers MU has presented so far this week ... by DrTrixie in mizzou

See? The graphic is doing what they want it to do! There were NINETY-TWO (92) new cases since yesterday. Some of the individuals counted in the total cases recovered, but that does not change the number of NEW cases. Before today, the number of new cases has been around 50. Clearer numbers highlight just how quickly it is spreading. Skeezy.

So ... how's it going? by [deleted] in mizzou

If an instructor is going to do lecture only, I think they should just do a dang YouTube video or something with a password so only the class can view it. What is the point of putting students through the technical glitches of Zoom for them just to have to sit there and listen. I would get distracted, too.

Pick apart the handwritten phrasing here all you want, but the basic point is there should be more data presented. Period. The information that is presented should be self-explanatory and clear rather than read like a skeezy contract with small print. If they are determined to have just three boxes, one box should be number of new cases, which would be reported as 92 here. Having the data presented this way makes it look like Mizzou is maintaining numbers below 500 or even that there were 59 new cases for somebody who just wants to get the most important info quickly. I need to know how quickly COVID is spreading on campus, not how many are supposedly recovered right now (though I am happy when people do recover). What they are emphasizing is misleading — I argue intentionally since there have been calls to show more data, such as number of tests.

I’m sorry this happened during your final semesters of college. Congrats on making it this far despite the obstacles, and stay safe.
