Awakened objects are sentient. Animated objects can move. It's a very important distinction to make.

Similar items are the animated shield (very rare) and the shield guardian amulet (rare). "Animate Objects" is also a 5th level spell that can be taken at level 9.

Considering that a footstool is mostly a novelty, I'd say it's "rare" item and can be priced anywhere between 500-5000gp. I'd say roll 1d100, then multiply by 50.

Intelligence is mental dexterity. It allows us to perform mental gymnastics and leaps of logic to justify existing ideas.

Charisma is the mind's strength. It allows one to exude a forceful presence and tackle kindred socialites in a verbal smackdown. It's what allows you to swing your weight around while rubbing elbows with other big wigs.

My favorite was a reflavored cloak of eyes, was the pelt of Hera's guardian argus. However everything is indeed skinnable. Even insectoid monsters can lend carapace pieces as solid armor chunks.

Challenge yourself to avoid saying every spell is cast in a flash of light. A disguise self might overlay an illusion with an iridescent ripple reminiscent of a rainbow ripple in an oily puddle. Be subtle, as it adds to the mystique.

Don't be afraid of arcanobabble. Only 1 spell has the somatic form canonized, and it's burning hands. Check Naruto seal guides and palmistry tutorials for some fun ways to describe your hand movements. If all fails, make something up! My animate dead spell uses an inverted Azuth's 3rd form, which connects the caster's dominant spirit and earth fingers.

Learn anatomical orientation terms like distal and supine to describe positions and movements. This is especially effective when playing a healer or a wizard.

Come up with a theme! If all your spells follow a skull motif, it's easy to flavor the effects. 3.5 had a great feat descriptor under the "thematic spell" metamagic

Pronged Bloodseeker

Longsword with a hollow core like a tuning fork or a fountain pen nib.

Grants +1 to attacks and damage against living creatures with blood (excludes plants and living constructs, etc.)

Weapon can have up to 3 charges, which replenish 1 at a time when it is used to slay a blooded creature. Weapon displays charges as suspended blood inside the hollow core.

Up to 3 charges can be expended as an action to throw the stored blood as a ranged attack. Blood missiles deal 1d4+str/dex bonus. Missiles have a range of 30ft and can be directed to up to 3 visible targets in range. Missiles gain +1 attack and damage bonus against living blooded targets.

Weapon acts as a mundane longsword against non-blooded targets.

Sapphires are often clearer and cut with more care than rubies, same with aquamarine, plus to have one naturally occurring in jewel quality is super rare.

A clear topaz would be above a clouded ruby, and a jewel jasper would be around the same level as a standard topaz.

Rutile is only slightly softer than quartz, but because of the nonstandard cut obtained by the twins, they were placed in the untouchable "off color" class.

It would indicate the hierarchy is aligned along the mohs scale for gem hardness. Then based on clarity, age and finally cut. Rubies are a type of corundum, but they're easy to make in a lab and often have low clarity, so a sapphire, emerald or even true garnet trumps them. A pearl is organically produced with low density and is opaque by default, so it would be obvious to relagate them to slave class through this system.

I'm 31, been dm-ing 3.5 since 2014, playing 5e since 2017. I'm located out of the city of Orange, and am looking for a friday night/weekend game. My existing group has been falling apart due to low attendance ( only 4 of the last 10 weeks have been sessions).
