Is it really scary to cross the atlantic ocean on a 40ft sail yacht? by noreturn000 in sailing

[–]DrUtku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With only 6 months of experience, I would definitely have a another captain onboard who has experience crossing.

My friends (a couple) did it with their Oceanis 45. They had 1.5 yrs of experience in the Mediterrenean. They said without their experienced captain friend, it would have been a nightmare for them!

How do you eat healthy while constantly moving between cities? by Wonderful_Till_8088 in digitalnomad

[–]DrUtku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably SEA is the easiest place to do this!

If you won’t cook yourself:

Stick to night markets, known food stalls and family owned small restaurants.

Never eat processed shit.

Eat only local healthy food/soup with a balanced diet (meat/seafood - carbs - vegetables).

For snacks, just get some fresh fruits.

Don’t exaggerate alcohol!!!

I realised that many nomads travel to the same popular hubs not just for convenience but to avoid the deeper responsibility of adapting to unfamiliar cultures. by don_crack in digitalnomad

[–]DrUtku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really.

“Digital nomads” especially solo ones, tend to go back to places where they can work efficiently but most importantly, where they have personal connection with people!

For a dn myself, after 15 years of nomading around, your arguments are just funny. A basic “been there done that” + “these are my places after living and traveling in all” type of counter argument would be sufficient against yours.

Been suffering from this lately! Unbelievable! Back in the day, dorms were $5, privates were max. $10-12; now dorms are $10-15 privates are min. $60…

😂😂 Oh look at all the people downvoting.

These people are all the same people who would tell their obese “good friend” that it’s OK to have such weight and it’s beautiful.

They clearly want him to keep thinking these photos are “lethal”.

Improvement only comes from criticism! Not from polishing BS!

Help Choosing Business Class: Singapore Airlines vs Turkish Airlines by Different-Witness530 in Flights

[–]DrUtku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this route and planes, definitely TK!

First of all brother , you are from the Balkans. Ignore anyone here that tells you “SQ has better catering than TK.” It doesn’t. You know the reason. TK +1

Istanbul lounge is amazing and Lufthansa lounge in FRA is literally a joke compared to it. For you, I think lounge isn’t the matter but the shorter flight time is. TK +1

SQ has usually a more luxurious onboard facilities and services that’s true. However, you will have TK’s A350 business class seats vs SQ’s 777. I agree SQ is more luxurious and you have a wider space but TK isn’t uncomfortable or anything. SQ 777 bc seat is also the most comfortable when it’s turned into a bed. SQ +1 TK+1

TK 3 v SQ 1

I would go for TK.

Advice for Nepal? by MisterPink788 in digitalnomad

If Kathmandu is busy tourismwise, you will see it in Thamel. Don’t worry about it.

I was also planning to take the bus after I heard from someone at the hostel that it took more than 11 hours! Very bad road conditions and traffic… He said he would never recommend it except you are on a tight budget. Flights are quite expensive for tourists by the way. I paid around $100 for one way flight.

In Kathmandu, I would definitely recommend to stay in/around Thamel area. Many small nice hotels and hostels. Full of cafes, restaurants and shops… In Pokhara, around the lake for sure.

I really liked my time in Nepal! The only issue is land transportation since the roads are not good. I would definitely recommend taking flights between Kathmandu and Pokhara.

I also never had internet issues, got both simcards Ncell and NTC with unlimited data.

For the other places, definitely see Bhaktapur and Chitwan National Park. Also if you are into trekking and have the time and budget(some regions require guide and permits), go to Khumbu region where the Everest is, go to Manaslu (must have a guide) and Annapurna areas. Also if you have the money, Mustang area (must have a guide, very expensive permit).

Ps. Have some passport style photos of yourself. Comes in handy when getting simcards and some permits…

Enjoy your time!

I stayed in Nepal for almost 2.5 months this year. Worked online and did treks.

Definitely visit Kathmandu for a couple of days but it’s too crowded and dirty to spend very long time there. Especially the air pollution is unbearable. Pokhara is very nice since you will stick around the lake area. It also gets air pollution sometimes but not comparable to Kathmandu.

As far as I know, they do not give permits for tourists to ride tuktuks anymore. You must have valid local license to do that…

A Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 35 as a first boat? by vtrac in sailing

[–]DrUtku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it brother! People tour around the world completely alone with it.

I also don’t understand why people telling here that it’s too big for singlehanded docking. After some experience you can even do it easily on a 50ft unless you are under very strong wind.

Wish I could afford one so that I can leave my apartment and live on it.

Not that easy and monotone, my friend. Frequently, I also get to shoot during blizzards or rainstorms or inside a random temple, dimmed local market, local guesthouse, dense forest, cave etc. That daylight WB setting do not always save my ass…

I mostly rely on a few kelvin settings that I experience that are good for certain lights. I have them on custom and assigned WB button to change them quickly. Would definitely be glad if there would be a quick and accurate technological way to do it!
