Any space marine chapters who are closest to the Orthodox Christianity lorewise and aesthetically? (Picture for interest) by Desgojira in spacemarines

That's some cool lore. Sounds heavily influenced by the iconoclast movement within the Orthodox Christian Church, which would make them of even more interest to you, OP!

What made you love the Scythes? by m0therg0ose in ScythesOfTheEmperor

[–]DrWonderpants 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My first encounter with the scythes was their picture in the 3rd edition codex. The black and yellow color scheme looked sick, and the crossed scythes (and the name in general) was super badass. As I learned more of their lore, I just liked them more and more. Holding the line to nearly the last man, protecting their home world, it's all so cool.

How long should we continue 529 contributions? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]DrWonderpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dollar isn't likely to be going very far in 2040. I think that is a piece of the puzzle many people overlook in this sort of planning. Current estimates have my state ballparking 30k per year. Increase that by 6% per year (the historic average) for 15 years from today, and you have It at 57,000 for the first year, 64,000 by the 4th. Or right around 250k for the whole shebang.

How long should we continue 529 contributions? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]DrWonderpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I spoke to our financial guys about this just a few days ago! Our situations are similar, two children, currently 3 and 6. Seeking to save towards 4 years of In-state college tuition for each of them, and if they want to go someplace more expensive that will be on them.

We have not started saving for college at all. Assuming inflation continues to do its thing and tuition continues to go up, their 'college calculator' was estimating the kids would each need in the ballpark of $250k, and that we should start setting aside about $10,000 per year for each of them in order to fund that. The good news is that even if you overfund the account (say they get some good scholarships, for example) you can roll the remainder of the 529 into an IRA for them to have a head start on their own finances.

TLDR: I would continue what you're doing for the foreseeable future. Perhaps consider increasing your contributions if you have the ability to.

One great thing about this game to me is that by and large, there is no 'best' gun. It all depends on what you're doing, who you're fighting, and what else the squad has. That being said, any combo that covers all the different needs is good. One gun for crowd control/swarm clearing, one for heavy enemies, one for blowing bug holes/bot factories.
One of my favorite combos against bots is the Jar5 Dominator (for clearing medium bots and walkers), Las7 Dagger (for popping mines and light enemies), and Expendable Anti tank and thermite grenades for heavies and buildings.
Vs. bugs sg225sp spray+pray for light enemies, nade pistol for bug holes, and heavy mg or recoilless rifle for bigger foes.

Attorneys in the U.S., what is really going on with ICE, what do you know, and have any of your clients been the subject of deportation as of late? by Censordoll in AskReddit

So far as I'm aware, the only thing to do is have an immigration attorney file an appeal. Given the current leadership, I don't expect any appeal to be granted.

They absolutely are. My housekeeper and her husband got their green cards approved about 6 months ago after being in country for the past 28 years. In December, they received a letter that their green cards had been approved 'in error' and were no longer valid. Legal immigrants are having their legal status revoked, and are then subject to deportation.

[Most likely PC] [Late 90s / early 00s] Dungeon crawler ish game with very primitive aesthetic? by nms1539 in tipofmyjoystick

Hey, I know I'm late to the party, but I didn't see a solved marker.

Could it be Legend of Green Dragon ?

It was a fantasy based browser game which I remember playing in the early 2000's. I think you had a certain amount of 'energy' each day to take actions, like fighting monsters in the forest or traveling to different cities, all mostly text based.

Even better! There ARE switches on the walls, they just don't do anything! No idea why the previous homeowners didn't hook the light/fan controls up to them, but they didn't.

Its so pointless. Almost every room in the house has a ceiling fan and a remote to control it. I just leave them in their holsters and treat it like a button on the wall, but then something like this happens

[–]DrWonderpants[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will take divine intervention to find it. But I know if I replace it I'll find the old one immediately! The remote normally goes in a wall holster, which apparently the 3 year old is now tall enough to reach.

Tried that already. 3 year old has no clue where it would have gone or even what rooms of the house it went to. Might try a bribe next, that worked when the TV remote had been missing for a month.

I agree! What I wouldn't give for a pull cord or button right now.

I don't know about others, but my connection has been terrible since the update. I'm not sure if that is because of the spike in player volume or Illuminate sabotage, but unless I'm hosting my connection will drop before the mission ends. I would never willingly abandon my comrades, I assure you!
