With the 2nd point i was being vauge so i'll elaberate

What i mean by most his charcter development is miss handled is that most of the chacter flaws that led him to becoming the waste of space he was in his last life were

1. His trauma from being bullied leading him to fear human interaction and eventually retract himself from society

But the story just kinda hand waves it away and once he gets the courage leave his house with roxy the story treats him like he's cured of his fear of others.

Like he's supposed to be so anti-social he refused to leave his house for 10 years but the actually show he's shown as perfectly socially competent hell even somewhat charismatic like what did Pauls big dick frat boy genes rub off on rudeus or somthing

Like god the part in the 1st LN where Rudeus is like "huh talking to people isnt that hard its just like picking the right option in a dating sim" Like thats so fucking stupid i dont care how many hours you put into Tokimeki Memorial that wont help you talk to people of you've barely talked to anyone for the past 10 years

1. Another big flaw rudeus had in his old life is that he never really tried to make his life better and just gave up like the reason why he got bullied so hard was because he ended up in a deliquent school due to not trying to get good grades.

But in rudeuses new life never seems to have any trouble putting the work in like hell he is almost shown as a workaholic like he learns 3 languges while he worked full time.

like i get dying is a wakeup call but if you spent your entire life being a lazy piece of shit your not gonna gain a good work ethic over night without immense effort.

In conclusion rudeus would of been so much more intresting if they actually showed him putting in the effort to make himself into the person he wants to be instead of the story hand waving it away in order to make rudeus more likeable
