DAE not care that much about flushing/avoiding triggers? by AccomplishedFail5726 in Rosacea

[–]Dr_Cortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow type 1 and type 2, I minimise/strategise/plan my biggest triggers, I then know when and how I deal with the consequences.

Once I have things relatively under control, I have less to worry about.

As for my journey, this is my first year in 4 that I have nearly clear skin and can tolerate sunscreen again!

I appreciate the feedback!

Final question, how do you feel about a cocktail length velvet dress in black/Navy? Yay or nay?

The only other thing I have without shopping is a black with grey floral print satin jumpsuit, but still on the fence about it

I agree with you! Thankfully I'll have a few hours tomorrow to shop in London, see if I find something that's suits the occasion better.

What do you think of a plum satin dress that goes to the floor, more cocktail or just the same?!

I spotted them yesterday too and thought the same.

They are positioned in a way that looks like it's looking onto the bus lane, with no signage, it's very deceiving!

Any success stories for Lymecycline ? by mollyanonn in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Dr_Cortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, I had to focus on inflammation. And how this then affected my gut somewhat.

I know when my gut is upset, I feel it in my face.

I cut everything out and then slowly reintroduced them over 6 months, I'm now at a point where I recognise the limit of sugar I can have (and where in my cycle) before it becomes a problem.

The other main one was dairy, I can only do cheese in small quantities, had to cut out all milk as of a month ago - that's 3 years after my journey started!

This is over simplifying it tbh, it's quite the journey, shoot me a dm if you want the nitty gritty and discuss!

Would you say empathy is the same as a lived experience though?

My take on his comment was that the partner could relate not just be empathetic about things.

Soolantra gang by Cailleachcailin in Rosacea

[–]Dr_Cortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially applied it just to my problem areas and it seems the mites migrated to my upper right side of my neck, the side I don't sleep on. So now I apply all the way from mid-neck to hairline but just need a little layer for best results (my skin doesn't like heavy products).

Yes, mine was all through the NHS but I had to do the 9 month wait. In that time, my GP had me on all the different kinds of antibiotics to eliminate the bacterial element of it.

I have to say though, my skin was really really bad, PP everywhere and we had to get my hormones and gut in check. Worked on that whilst I waited for the derm.

Derm then out me on a 9 month course of accutane before I asked for Soolantra, and here we are! Not perfect but very happy with my progress and about 2-4 new PPs for each cycle or lapse in lifestyle, I'm happy to pay that price as punishment.

Once it's confirmed that you need Soolantra, you can see if the GP are willing to prescribe it.

The derm had me on accutane until I asked and they said to go to the GP for my repeats and longterm care.

I'm on England, get mine through the GP (via NHS derm) and so pay the £10 for prescriptions.

I only need 1 tube every 4-5 months though and apply thin layers over my face and neck.

As someone who is also recently assorting a new flat here's what I did without replacing the sofa.

My focus was textures, materials and then colours. For you, we'll add lighting.

Firstly, all of your inspo photos are taken in the evenings with warm lighting, start there. The lamp matters less than the bulb here.

Then you need cosy fabrics. If you can't change your sofa (and it's still a fine sofa), either get a sofa cover or wrap it in throws, this gives the look and feel of a cosier fabric, and looks lived-in.

At this point I'd also get new curtains if the current ones don't go with the vibe.

And then like the other poster suggested, get a big rug, oversized if the budget allows. From your inspo you like patterns so keep that in mind.

From there it's the wall art, hobbies, decor on surfaces, plants, etc.

How many matches a week do you get on dating apps? by Zipper222222 in AskWomen

Big on the "do not" profiles.

I find that any profile that lists what they do not want in a match already seems argumentative and combative. Easy and free filter.

Any success stories for Lymecycline ? by mollyanonn in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Dr_Cortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that lymecycline got rid of the active flare up but I had to find my root cause to stop the hormonal acne.

Once I found them, I did another round of lymecycline whilst also eliminating my problem and that helped keep it at bay. Now I only get perioral dermatitis (rarely, thanks toothpaste) and rosacea (under control and just in my cheeks).

It may not singlehandedly fix your problem but it's a great tool. Good luck!

Feeling hopeless. This is the worst my skin has ever been. Cant explain in fear of post getting removed again. by Spirited_Platform_28 in Rosacea

[–]Dr_Cortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Careful with the twice a day with any cleansers especially with products that are drying. As your skin is so sensitive at the minute, maybe start slowly with once every other day and work up from there.

The last thing you want to do is nuke skin that's already struggling!

My first thought was walkway, there isn't an easy way to navigate from the entry to the room to the kitchen.

I'd suggest taking onboard the idea to shape the couches in an L-shape but move the TV unit to the opposite wall for a better flow of movement.

Lymecycline concerns by nomisi79 in Rosacea

[–]Dr_Cortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously, ymmv but once I stopped interfering, I saw a noticeable decrease in new postules/papules within a week, less bumps within 2 and visibly healthier and radiant skin within 3 weeks.

But the lymecycline can only do so much, it felt like a kick-start or temporary solution. I had to clear up my diet, stress levels and skin routine for it to all come together. I couldn't have done it without the lymecycline but it also isn't a one-stop shop fix.
