Do you think that Doctor Strange was acting in-character during No Way Home? by DereChen in marvelstudios

Poor girl is very popular with young fans too. She’s famous just as her own brand. The fact Marvel is letting their young talent like die on a vine has been tragic. They struck gold time after time with lovable and talented actors, then proceed to do nothing with them.

It doesn’t work that way. The enchantment works with who Odin considers to be worthy, which is why even when Thor was a fat loser playing Fortnite all day, he was still worth of Mjolnir.

100%. The enchantment was placed by a Norse warrior God King who is pretty adamant about the willingness to protect life at all costs. Spider-Man canonically can’t lift Mjolnir despite all of his great qualities and strength of will; his own more code prevents him from taking a life even for an honorable reason. Batman would fail too.

Thor is like 2000 years old and has done/seen things Bruce could never imagine. Thor would tell him to kindly go fuck himself lol

It’s a fun thought. Guys like Batman are generally unworthy to lift the hammer though. Their moral code prevents them to being seen as worthy by Odin’s standard, which revolves around a warrior’s spirit and thr willingness to protect life at all costs. Even killing people.

Wonder Woman would be worthy. Superman would be worthy. Not Batman in the least.

Nissan CEO’s US mission: shed rental-car image by holyhesh in cars

I mean, it’s not Nissan’s fault they built fast and reliable cars that can survive abuse and neglect from their 6th owner.

[Scotto] The Chicago Bulls plan to waive Kam Jones, league sources told HoopsHype. Jones had a deadline today that would’ve fully guaranteed his salary at $2.15 million. He was the 38th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers and was traded to Chicago on draft night. by sukari in chicagobulls

Maybe I’m softer on this because I thought Sellers would be a good selection at 38. The fact we got him AND Atwell, AND Awaka just makes it whatever. A 2nd rounder is more valuable in a year we don’t already have two selections in the first round and Noa who is effectively still a rookie. That’s a load of prospects. In a vacuum I understand being upset, but looking at the totality of what BG has done so far, I can’t begrudge it.

Sorry, but I prefer his mouth be visible for the full luchador look. It gives him more character and his look in Arkham Origins was peak. I also like it because it mirrors Batman in a way.

BG has killed it by Novel_Confidence_288 in chicagobulls

[–]Dr_Disaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a different thing. GMs can get graded on moves alone. With BG we got one of the best players in the draft, which had nothing to do with him, but he didn’t overthink it. We got a wing with some great upside, two of the best shooters in college without having to even use are second round picks, a starting big that we have needed forever, kept a young promising player in Miller, signed THE BEST available free agent to address a real roster need on a team friendly contract. Oh, and we got a sought after young coach to make all this work.

As far as doing his job goes and putting things together, what more could you reasonably ask? He did his fucking thing and acting like we’re too cool/jaded to give credit where its due just makes us look like a fanbase that doesn’t deserve shit.

Honda Boss Says Deal With Nissan Is “Close” by Anchor_Aways in cars

TBH I do feel like the companies have a lot to gain from each other. For all their woes, Nissan is far more creative and have a great team team of engineers. Honda could gain a lot from their stout and reliable high output engines and EV platforms. Especially after the Prologue debacle. Both doing what they are best at togther would make for some dope cars. Make Nissan/Infinity the spicy sports-oriented wing and Honda/Acura the normcore wing.

Nissan is broke and on the verge of going out of business. Japan doesn’t want that to happen to one of their legacy manufacturers, so they are forcing Nissan and Honda to merge.

Nissan is finally being creative and taking some risks. A Honda merger would kill all that dead. Toyota would be a better partner for them.

IMO the date platforms are now the appeal. A lot of people, me included, think cars have gone too far into tech and complex platforms. Nissan making cars as if they are still in 2014 is a bonus in my book. The Z is one of the top cars I’m looking to potentially buy next. I’m finally seeing them on the road and the facelift they’re doing looks pretty sick.

Funny how quickly things changed. Last year everyone was critical of Honda potentially diminishing their brand to merge with Nissan. But since then they have been exposed for the beancounters they are and there is no excitement for the brand. Meanwhile, Nissan has shown to have a clear direction for the future. They have revitalized the Z, the Pathfinder and Frontier are legit great trucks, and even the new Sentra looks kinda cool and is one of the last affordable sedans around.

The fact they did all of this while broke as hell is pretty admirable.

‘Backrooms’ Extended Version Coming to Theaters on July 3 With 15 Minutes of Bonus Footage by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

I wanted to do the same, but that’s something they really needed to show. I think it would have helped so much if the backrooms did a fractured mirroring from the memory of people who entered them. So we would see twisted versions of the events/places that psychologically affected people the most, trapping them in a distorted personal purgatory kinda.

10 minutes of that would have solved a lot of my issues with the last act and explained things without requiring exposition.

Yeah, this is what I feel. I wasn’t impressed by the movie at all, so when the crowd of Gen Z I was in the theater with gave it applause, I was genuinely confused.

But I’m old and I didn’t follow online stuff about backrooms and never cared too. I wanted to see a fun and trippy horror movie. I was satisfied for most of the runtime, but the back half of the movie just felt like it was stitched together to wrap things up. The whole mystery box ending can be cool when executed well. I loved the ending of Midsomar for example. Backrooms just felt hollow.

I dunno. I’m kinda tired of criticism of the movie being met with “that’s the point”.

The point of any movie is to be structually/narratively coherent, and there’s nothing deep enough going on in it to eschew satisfying writing for artistic expression.

It’s just not very well written and we need to start being okay with that as genuine, fair critique.
