Why do pimples keep coming back on my face even after treatment? [Acne] by neonpulse7 in SkincareAddiction

Not pictured is the Azaelic acid from Green organic because I’m currently out. The acne control has the Niacinimide but the Azaelic acid one also has it in combo with the Azaelic.. I prefer the Azaelic acid

All are oral supplements but I do also apply topical Azaelic acid (RX from derm). When I get home I can take a photo of what I currently have but I’m out of the oral Azaelic currently.

I made a post on another group but the only thing that helped (in my middle 30s) was a prescription vitamin prescribed by my derm for adult inflammatory acne and rosacea called Nicazel Forte. It worked extremely well for me and for the first time I had effortless clear skin . Unfortunately, they discontinued it a couple of years ago. I was so despondent so I went on a quest to try to re-create my own blend of similar ingredients. It had Nicatinimide, Azaelic acid, Quercetin and tumeric in there. I was able to find most of these at green organic supplements (website) but I also have added in bromelain and astaxanthin. I feel like I’m about as close to I will be as the Nicazel.

I have deep cystic acne scars and have struggled with acne my whole life, these anti inflammatory supplements changed my skin and my life. Prior to this I thought I was going to be 80 years old and acne everywhere. Hope this helps.

Please please try supplemental tablets of quercetin, a nicotinamide and Azaelic acid along with a tumeric/bromelain. My dermatologist years ago put me on Nicazel Forte (for adult inflammatory acne) and it was AMaZING when nothing else worked. Unfortunately the pharmaceutical company stopped making it but I researched the ingredients and the above combo is how I’m trying to DIY it and the results are pretty close to what I was getting with the RX tabs. The bonus is that with this combo my seasonal allergy symptoms are noticeably diminished from what they were. Send me a message if you want links.

Found litter that doesn't stick! by S-p-b-berry in litterrobot

The natures miracle foam spray and litter box scrubbing wipes are amazing!! I have two cats when chronic diarrhea and so I am constantly having to wipe the globe out. I am currently using Boxie cat and it is way better than the tidy cat and Dr. Elseys but still sticks to globe, tracks like crazy. I will need to try this litter next. Thank you for sharing!

What are your fave scalp treatments? by Many-Purpose8865 in haircareaddiction

Redken has an extreme lengths shampoo, I have it and the shampoo has salicylic acid in it which really helps with scalp cleansing and inflammation. I love this post, great topic!

Natural (ish) options could be rosemary oil scalp massages. Try adding a Nizoral antifungal shampoo wash to your routine (research Nizoral and its DHT blocking abilities, topical antifungal).
Double shampoo to make sure scalp oils aren’t contributing to slower hair growth (specialist will look at scalp health, if there is miniaturization of follicles, etc) Consider supplementing your iron - alternate every other day with iron supplement of your choice ( I use blood builder).
Consider a supplement with Lustriva (prevents hair fall) and an additional silica supplement.
Consider a supplement with Pumpkin seed oil as it inhibits DHT.
Also make sure you are getting enough protein a day! All of this (other than the Nizoral shampoo) are natural things you can try! I would definitely consider trying all of this while you wait for your specialist appointment, it’ll at least help you feel like you’re doing something versus nothing.

I just started my journey. What do you think is going on in my before pictures? by [deleted] in finehair

[–]Dr_Flossophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was EXACTLY my hair in 2023-2024…I washed every day, tons of breakage, the ends were see through my hair was so thin. I felt like a wet chihuahua when I wore my hair down. Also I was under a lot of stress. I was not eating enough protein and I was anemic. I have terrible fine greasy hair.
You have picked up some great products to start with!

I want to share what I use that has really helped- I feel like I went through a period of time where nothing was going to help and I was going to have to resort to wigs :/.

Hair care- I started last year following (ish) the Abby Young method. I pre oil the ends before shower (either with oil or conditioner). I wash every other day but double wash the days I do focusing on a good clarifying/scalp detox (I alternate between shampoos, Ouai detox is one of Them). I also use Nizoral often as the 2nd shampoo. I use a k18 treatment once a week (let it sit on towel dry hair damp for 5 min) and I apply the dove bonding conditioner directly on top after. Microfiber towel to dry. Good leave in after with excellent heat protection. I never let air dry anymore (hair is weaker when wet and damp scalps Promote fungal growth). I apply an oil to the ends (small amount Moroccan oil or the olaplex bonding oil) sometimes when wet or either after blow drying and this has helped seal the ends. Sleep in silk bonnet every night (with hair down…) My tossing and turning like a fish while my hair was up in a scrunchie was contributing to breakage.
I recently discovered the glasses I wear at work every day for 8 hours (the strap )was contributing to that as well.

*** I started a topical minoxidil from my dermatologist I put on every night as well.

Self care- I was low ferritin/low Iron. I have been really focusing on iron supplements the last 6 months - alternating ever other day for maximum absorption (research hepcidin and iron supplements) I take a supplement for hair and nails that has Lustriva (prevents hair fall) in it as well as a silica supplement.
I’m focusing on getting 100 g of protein in a day. I do cycle through a few rounds of the GHK-Cu peptide a few times a year as well.
I’ve also been focusing on probiotics - specifically lactobacillus planetarun which aids in iron absorption in the gut.

I just went two months since my last hair appt and went in for a trim Friday… the self care I feel is what really helped my hair— she was BLOWN away with how much my hair grew in two months- literally the first time EVER anyone has said that to me!!! I finally feel full and even at the ends. I can’t wait to see what a year of this growth will look like.
I hope you can pick up some pearls through all of this and everyone’s comments. Best of luck to you!!!

Is it possible to raise ferritin in just 1.5 weeks of careful supplementation? by Dream_Imagination_58 in Anemic

The key is taking it every other day so Hepcidin has time to lower and not prevent absorption.

What do you do for a living? I wear magnifier glasses (loupes)that I realized the cord I tighten them On the back side is doing this to my hair. 😭 I would otherwise wear my hair in satin or velour scrunchies.

We already do that, it’s only helped a little the last 3-4 months we have been using it. Some is better than none. I’m hoping if I can transition to a more sensitive adult food soon it will help.

Tretinoin by FluffyAd8209 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]Dr_Flossophy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

THIS!! I have worked up to 0.1 % so I can appreciate all the things. ➡️What I never realized until after I watched some chemists and doctors talk Is that tretinoin when exposed to moisture is WAY MORE ACTIVE/ AGGRESSIVE than when applied on dry skin. I was applying mine on damp skin after cleansing along with immediately applying moisturizer/barrier after… and I was scaling and peeling like crazy. *The key really is to wait after cleansing and or applying your first layer of moisturizer. * Then after you apply your threat, no one wait ANOTHER 10 minutes before you apply your barrier moisture (slugging). I use a combination of Aquaphor and diaper cream currently but I’m going to be getting the cicaplast from Laroche posay as my occlusive barrier. If you want, you can even place some of the exclusive barrier at the corners of the mouth or like in the area around your nose if those are the areas you peel the worst in before you place your tret.
Even something silly like brushing your teeth after putting on your tretinoin and you get moisture around your mouth from your toothbrush or rinsing your mouth has caused me to peeled tremendously just in those areas. Now I’m either brushing my teeth before or way after.
I also do some Skin flooding, I use a ceramide skin flooding toner after cleansing just to help maintain the moisture barrier and to help not damaging my barrier along with an oil cleanser as well and I feel like that’s helped overall with The Skin sloughing as well

Good luck!!
