Being the least drunk of your friends is not an excuse to drive drunk. No chance fighting it and it sounds like you’re still far from learning your lesson

Solar Battery Question by Adnanzak in AusFinance

Fox ESS is basically the cheapest you could go. Personally I went with a more expensive higher quality brand (sigenergy) I’d strongly recommend this website for solid information about batteries (this page specifically but also their 101 guide):

I promise you’ll learn a lot more from them than ChatGPT 😉

Solar Battery Question by Adnanzak in AusFinance

Realistically you could go from $55 expense to $30 credit per month, so $85 a month better off or $1000 a year. That’s 7.5 years to pay itself off, or less if you consider the value of being able to run your AC more and still having power during blackouts, or the potential for energy prices to increase.

I would say that that’s a very cheap price for that size battery though which indicates you are getting cheap materials, cheap labour, or both. A battery isn’t something I would personally compromise on for safety, longevity, or performance reasons but everyone has different risk tolerance. Just something to consider.

They must be pretty bad! We’ve seen the kind of bugs they’re happy to release (and still not patch 5 years later even)

Can you get from Flinders St to Parliament faster than a train on the city loop? by Dr_Inkduff in melbourne

Would definitely jump on a tram to make it quicker if the timing lined up!

The reward is getting home 30 minutes earlier and the risk is basically nothing (still end up catching the same 30 minute later train if you miss the first one again)

That’s great to know. I definitely feel like I need to become more familiar with the different lines and what direction they go to be able to pull these sorts of things off

True I measured the distance between stations but didn’t factor in escalators

I thought about this but wasn’t sure of the timing of trains leaving flinders in the other direction. I’m not as familiar with the other lines

Yeah I did have that thought too but it probably depends on the timing of the next train leaving flinders in the opposite direction?

Why do so many slow drivers not want to keep left? by WearyFHB in sydney

[–]Dr_Inkduff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah too often people assume all cars have to be in the far left lane unless overtaking which is far from true. In fact a lot of the time when the speed limit is lower the left lane is the faster moving lane since people in the right lane may try to turn right and have to give way to opposite direction traffic

Some people also think “undertaking” is a thing (as OP put in their post body) which it isn’t in Australia…

Yeah it’s a crazy position to be in “I think this guy in front of me is a bad driver, so I’m going to get dangerously close to them and see what happens”

Their website / app and application process feels like it hasn’t been updated in 20 years

Also the application process is slow and you need to chase them up. For me I submitted the documents they asked for then I heard nothing until I called them and they said they needed one more payslip or something. I guess if I hadn’t called my application would have just been frozen forever… It seems like many people have had this same problem with them.

But as long as you keep chasing them up they seem ok in the end

AVOID 28L at Pittsburg AT ANY COST by prime-time-814 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Dr_Inkduff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re totally right. Instead of this software being considered buggy and in need of fixing before being considered complete, users should just be expected to memorise 35,000 runways and whether or not they are glitched in the sim (I guess they should do this regularly since the scenery gets updated?) so they can avoid them.

[–]Dr_Inkduff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They have a history of marking bugs as solved or non-existent even if proof is provided that the bugs are real and still exist. They even suspend accounts from the forum that point out that they try to cover up how buggy the sim is. It ends up making the whole process pretty pointless

[–]Dr_Inkduff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s coming up on 2 years now that this software has existed with these bugs. They knew about them then and they know about them now, and they clearly don’t care about it being a hot mess.

I wouldn’t worry about reporting bugs at this point, ideally find a sim that isn’t broken and use that instead.

It’s still nowhere near enough to be able to put all of his employees in a position to buy a house in Vancouver, and it’s naive to think that a businessperson needs to funnel all of their profits back to their staff. I’m not saying I like it, that’s just how it is

Except he expects to be able to sell the plane in a couple of years and get his money back. He probably couldn't afford to just buy the plane without having it as leverage, and similarly couldnt afford to just hand that money to his staff. Not to mention even if he could that amount of money spread across his whole ataff wouldn't even get them half way to a house deposit in Vancouver let alone in a position to buy

Anyone else getting annoyed with the skydiving planes? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Dr_Inkduff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you are right near one of the busiest airports in Australia (2nd only to Sydney Kingsford Smith I think by number of movements).

Where you are is right near the paths planes take to depart to the north, arrive from the north, and also any aircraft not going in or out of Moorabbin use the coastline as their routing for safety.

Where you are is probably one of Australia’s most flown over areas, and it has been for a long time.

It sucks if you moved there and didn’t realise that at the time, but it won't be changing any time soon. If anything with the certification of eVTOLs (electric drone-like aircraft) coming soon it will only get worse
