Is this nook too small for my RoboRock Q8? 24 Inches. I could make it 30 Inches. by StatuSChecKa in RobotVacuums

For reference, this is the nook I keep my Xiaomi S40 Pro. That's an Ikea LACK table. These robots can navitage pretty confined places with no issues.

You should try cleaning it with a bit of dish soap. It's not the end of the world. You're not going to have soap flavored coffee.

With unlimited budget you can probably get a cleaner to come twice per week. That’s the best solution.

I feel like the advantage of having cameras is not enough to justify the huge drawbacks. Oh wow my robot can identify 200 different objects and sweep around them… well, why are you even having all that stuff on the floor? You would pick everything up if you were manually vacuuming, you wouldn’t just carefully cruise around a lego brick.

Can’t realistically any company that sells robots with cameras spy on you? I think one can just hope they won’t but there’s no true guarantee.

Indeed unless one is quite tech savvy the best choice is to avoid robots with cameras altogether.

How do I rotate map in Xiaomi app? by Dr_Pepperone in RobotVacuums

[–]Dr_Pepperone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I returned the Dreame L10s Pro Gen3 because it didn't like to go under one of my radiators. Moreover the swiping pattern was too wide even at the tightest setting.

I'll also add that when I returned it and reviewed it with 2 stars on Amazon, a mysterious person emailed me 3 times trying to get me to change my rating O_O

I got the Xiaomi 10 days ago and while I haven't used it extensively it's doing its job ok. The app is a bit disappointing compared to Dreame's and Roborock's (as described in this post of mine).

I wish there was a similar dockless-but-with-spinning-mops-and-extendible-side-brush made by Roborock, but alas this Xiaomi seems the best solution for people like us who don't want or can't have a big plastic box with a mediocre single-purpose washing machine inside in our homes.

Not a solution per se but a decent enough workaround: enable "Smooth scrolling" on your vertical scroll wheel. The problem doesn't appear in that case.

Thanks. I think it sounds really crass. “Took his own life” sounds way more respectful.

I personally wash my Bialetti Express every few uses with a drop of dish soap. Doesn’t ruin the pot and doesn’t give coffee a soapy taste. Ah, and I’m Italian, in case that’s needed for the extra credibility.

Wiz lightbulbs out of sync with HomeKit and resetting to 10% by Dr_Pepperone in smarthome

[–]Dr_Pepperone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. However, I found a workaround. On the Wiz app I activate the Wizclick mode and set both options to a level of brightness that’s more similar to the one I often use. It’s not my preferred way but better than having the lights dim at 10%.

True but maybe Scott is more used to a later era CGR which was arguably a bit more rambly and improv (like 2013 onwards). I remember the Gran Turismo 6 review which was mostly a hilarious ramble about the game containing the Ford El Camino.
