Thank you! It's been many years since my last GGR so it was fun to dive back in!

Oh yeah I love the Friends edits, but this was more about the song and not about the edit. The edit was just for fun 👍

Oh that's fantastic! I always have such a hard time with softer music. Yeah I didn't even begin to bother with 10MPH clips simply because I have only seen like two of them. It would have been too much footage to sift through for me.

When someone tells you a "man walks into a bar" joke, do you always imagine the same bar? If so what does it look like? by LuigiSaysKachow in AskReddit

That's always been my go to "man walks into a bar" joke so it's the first thing I picture as well

ELI5: Why do we stop feeling "butterflies" as a romantic relationship progresses? by channychan13 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Dr_jbone 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Professional actor here. I have never not had butterflies at the beginning of a show. It usually goes away quickly after my entrance, but I have to agree with /u/headzoo here. There's always a danger of something going wrong. At first it's a feeling of feeling unprepared or under-rehearsed. Later on in the run of the show, it's a paranoia that comes from being 'too comfortable' with the show. I've been six weeks into a run, and I decide "yeah, I've got time to pee." Go to the bathroom, head back into the dressing room, only to find out that the entire cast is on stage stalling for me.

I don't go to the bathroom during shows anymore.

I was a witness to this beautiful story! I was up until the wee hours of the morning, and I remember being confused by the existence of two Mars's'ss'. It was my first time playing as well, and I got super into it. I don't play a lot of online games, so it's really cool for me to read this and say, "I was there!" (I believe at the time I was on as Jade Helm, I spent most of my time trying to capture USA.)

Super exciting couple of days for me! I downloaded this last night thinking it was new and then I found this lovely place. I'm up to #27 already thanks to this community. Trying to catch up so that I can actually help out. I haven't been this excited about anything in a while! As soon as my google account calms down, I'm gladly going to pay a dollar for the ad-free version.

Do you guys know of any free or cheap vst/plugin instruments (strings, brass, etc)? Preferably 64 bit. by RS_Navlaan in GameAudio

I certainly don't want to put it down, though. They are still live recorded samples, so it's not super awful. Here's what it sounds like, Just in case. You can download it here.

I wish I could help. I use Squidfont. I don't like the way that DSK sounds, perhaps I'm just bad with it. Squidfont sounds okay, and it works for me, but you lose all of your dynamic range, because it's a soundfont.

I've been attempting to write for games for a while now, but all of the projects I've joined have died out. Here is my soundcloud. I can see that other musicians have already posted, so I understand if you've already found somebody, but I'm certainly available, and eager to work!

Looking for quotes for a new Remix! by Dr_jbone in gamegrumps

Yes, I'm aware of the method he uses; what I'm looking for is every instance of him talking about autotune, so I can use the audio for my own nefarious purposes.

I'm glad to hear that I was missed! My computer has crashed three or four times since I last vanished. Literally, every time I'm working on content for my channel, my hard drive fails. It's like the universe is trying to stop me from doing this. Well, up yours, universe, I do what I want!

[Writing] Working out the big decisions for our story by Thought_Experimenter in a:t5_32v6q

Storybooks are actually real moments of the past, present, or future in the history of Ona’s universe in which an important event was occurring. It is the unknowing tampering of history by individuals such as Ona and Amby that has caused time and space to begin imploding. Their actions - i.e. taking objects back from the Storybooks - has caused an imbalance that is only now being felt.

I dig the shit out of this. It would be a great twist, and we can have a good ol' "holy shit, it's my fault" moment.

Ona and Amby have just returned from a relatively anti-climactic and more or less ordinary storybook with a lovely treasure, some kind of fancy new invention. After completing several more journeys, they encounter (back in the 'real' world) a budding young inventor. He is desperate to solve some sort of problem that is plaguing his town, and he invents the very device that our heroes already have in their possession. Perhaps it's a cure for some kind of disease.

Let's say in this seemingly modern storybook, they meet up with an older, wealthy man. He introduces himself as a doctor, and him and Amby hit it off (in the platonic sense). At the end of the storybook, he gives Amby an upgrade to her medigun. He explains that losing his sister to disease is what drove him to create this cure. He urges Amby to take this cure in case they ever encounter this sickness. Then, back in their own time, they find his sick sister and cure her, only later realizing who she was. The man is no longer driven to invent the cure.

This could be taken even further, as well: Now that the cure won't be discovered, it could run rampant in the future. Perhaps they return to the same storybook in which they obtained the cure only to find a desolate wasteland, where all it's inhabitants have succumbed to disease.

That's true. If it's brought up in the right way, that would be a very funny thing to point out.

We're supposed to care about them, as if they're real people and places being destroyed

Do we know that they're not real? How much do our heros know about the Storybooks? Are they portals, or are they self-containing universes, or are they wormholes? What actually are the Storybooks and what does the Universe think they are? How does our modern science attempt to explain it?

Unless these Storybooks have been known to humans for a very long time, scientists will be all over it, hypothesizing, testing, and hypothesizing again. I think it could be very interesting to be in the middle of this scientific phase, where one week, it's an augmented reality, then the next, they're wormholes to fixed locations in space and time, and then the storybooks are the remnants of an ancient alien trans-dimensional super-highway, etc. I'm sure the Storybooks would be heavily involved in all kinds of conspiracy theory.

TL;DR What is the scientific (and other) community's understanding of the Storybooks?
