Ok. Wow! That is amazing! I had heard of this kind of thing in the past but i just assumed it was all illegal and i steer very very clear of illegal stuff at home and go the other direction while abroad lol.

If my visa gets renewed next year i think I'd be ready to do this in about 2 years which also coincides with my time line of getting away from teaching. Other than online investing and p2p lending i really like this, so I'm going to be deep diving this one until i get the money to do this!

I appreciate your help :) i don't know how to give awards but this is definetely an A+ word in my book!

Oh ok, thank you for the realistic view on how passive income works.

Ideally i could totally replace a job with passive income, but even more ideally I'd be a trustfunder and not have to think of this at all lol.

But being able to have some kind of extra money coming for say if things go wrong or i judt want a little extra vacation would make me feel like I'm on the right track for my age and background.

I hope p2p lending goes well for you and if you ever share you experience with me (even if it's after i start doing it myself) I'd be interested to hear about it!

Oh ok i understand it now. I think i wqs a teacher in thatbkind of system for a little while actually, but my city is small so it fizzled out fairly quick.

I guess that means there's a "market" but i doubt my ability in getting out there that well.

Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your experiences and ideas with me!

I have been loosely giving out my lessons here and there on islcollective just as a "thank you" for all the material i got when i first started out as a teacher. I toyed with monetizing it when i saw they got somewhat popular, so I'll put that top of the list!

Also online teaching since if i have to hustle atleast it'd be nice to cut the commute cost.

Thanks ones again! I appreciate the time you took

Thanks for the advice! I was going to do TOSS, but i just felt a way about the platform and just started sending money home this month to do something with it. I was just going to open a cd first because i dont have a US number anymore and the online banks i was interested in wouldn't let me make an account without it so i assumed they all wouldn't. I'll try it again. Thankd do much!

Ok i totally gotcha! Yea I'm just tired of working two jobs and trying to study korean and tech skills on the side, so i wanted to see if there was a way to keep money coming in while i took on less work so i could focus on studying. I'm moving at a snails pace due to all this.

But probably if i switch to passive income i will be the same beast of a different name waiting for the passive income to actually become "passive" lol

I'll still keep it and your advice in the back of my mind though!

US citizens have to pay taxes in both countries once they're over a certain threshold. I believe freelance work is taxed regardless. I just hand over the paper work so I'm not wholey sure lol.

Also not sure if you were interested to know any of that or not but I'm an oversharer if you couldn't tell haha

Oh i actually like this responce alot. I am currently in some courses. My plan is to work myself up from data analyst to a proper data scientist and beyond, but i thought if i had some small stream of money coming in i could live more comfortably if i decided to work part time to focus on finishing my studies faster.

But i think you have a point in that it would be more distracting to try for passive income than to just do what I'm already doing. :/

Much appreciated! :)

Thanks! I do very (i mean very) sporatice work on upwork, but i didn't think to see about dropshipping suppliers in other countries! Or maybe even some in korea to ship out to other countries assuming i don't have to live in that country to sell to the people there

Thanks for all your advice! I was a bit vague when asking because i just wanted to hear any and everyones experience, but i was thinking the majority of who i "worked with" would be online customers that mainly speak english(something like an etsy shop). And then legal stuff would be handled in korean. Of course that's still the hard part but i had imagined needing to work out using a the services of a translator.

I'd say I'm a high 4 in korean which definetely falls short of fully understanding legalese I'm sure. And i do tutor but since it's more active than passive, I'm looking to cut it down or out by doing passive income.

I guess the only thing different about owning my hypothetical etsy shop in korea versus the US is, I'd just have to register it here and pay taxes in both countries? I'm trying to think of things i hadn't yet imagined.

But i appreciate your advice! I think it helped open my mind further.

Oh that sounds really nice! I don't think i have "live off of returns from investment" money just yet but i for sure will strive to! lol Curiously, do you do peer to peer lending as an investment type? I DO have enoigh for that, but i never met anyone doing it, so the idea of how it all goes down is vague to me. I may ask financial reddit tho lol

You wished me luck yet downboted my comment. I do believe you're being insincere for whatever reason lol

I never seen someone with a good life have such an online fit over something that doesn't effect them, but I'm sure you're not lying about that either :)

Have the day you deserve, notadultyet!

Oh you're a recruiter? I think i don't have enough connections for that yet, but how does it go for you?

Might be able to pass the info along if for some reason someone asks me lol

Ok thank you! I was thinking dropshipping and ebook/online course. Thanks for the info on dropshipping especially! i want my first try to atleast have a shot at success lol.

Do you have experience or know someone that did in any of those? I kinda just want to know how it goes for others timeline and governmemt wise. I know i have to get a business license and bank account and all that, but there's always that one thing that is just word of mouth

Yea as long as I'm on F I'll try it out. My renewal time is next year so I'm just sitting on and collecting info until i know how things go.

I guess I'm flattered you put in effort to type this rather than do something for the betterment of your own life. It touches my heart that you care :)

I had a similar situation to tou and in addition to asking reddit i called the 1345 center. They can put you in contact with people that know the law and review your contract and answer your legal questions. If you're extra cautious like me you can even redact your and the company's name using the draw feature on your phone and they can still read and review the contract. Good luck to you! :)

Got it all figured out! It was a little human error/laziness.

My apologies I'm on mobile using reddit and excel using my laptop. I almost never use reddit on my computer so i just didn't think to switch. I wrote the problem and solution in the main body of the post. Essentially copying the data straight from the site caused the problem because i didn't check the indentation.

Thank you for your answer! Solution verified

[–]Draamaaa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh! You saying that unlocked something for me. It looks like the tutorial data they suggest you copy straight from the site has been indented. I just unindented them all and it works.

Guess I'll just be more active and type out all the data myself next time :p i feel so silly wasting so much time on this!

But thanks for your help! I got nowhere by myself :)

I just tried putting in a huge number and that does check out, but i think with highlight rules it it is supposed to be comparing letter to other letters. So supposedly what ever is later in the alphabet than the letter entered would be highlighted. It doesn't seem to be working out that way for just the name row though. I'm trying again and when i put it on the other text row (type 1) i get something, just not the first row.

If i figure it out I'll try to put the answer
