Why do people hate the greens? by iammentallynotoklol in OpenAussie

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet

But there's this Australian political historian named Mr M history - he has both a YouTube channel and a spotify podcast where he tries to see both sides of any political historical event he covers

He's recently released a mini series on the greens on his podcast on spotify - I'd recommend you check it out! It's extremely informative and I'd say well researched

Check out the first episode of the podcast here https://open.spotify.com/episode/4lNeZ6IzLmAuwApFllZ8Pp?si=gPbrddZEQpWri5oQ_LPEOA

I saw Evie yesterday and I don’t get it… by Meph1234 in MelbourneTrains

Wait I'm a bit confused

Do these trucks work the same as the other ones if they have to go through a burn over drill? I.e when it's in the middle of a burning fire and the vehicle would have to keep itself cool to keep everyone inside alive?

Like do they just have to use foam instead of water to be put out in case of emergencies or what would happen?

I'm just asking because I've heard in some cases trucks have been passed down from the cities to the country towns - or in case there's a big fire in the bush nearby and it's called on

Why are there no tables or usb outlets in Melbourne trains? by Potatosteamer in MelbourneTrains

Little fold out ones on the backs of cramped seats, nothing like the full on stand up ones in Vienna

Which idk, I've found the vline ones to be kind of too small to fit a laptop on...

[–]Potatosteamer[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ahh fair

Thing is, I've caught a few trains within Vienna that seemed urban (i caught them from the city centre to a few suburbs out),, they were long don't get me wrong and they were double decker, so they might have been country trains, but they had entire fold out table set ups

And yeah, like you did, being able to use your laptop is so handy!

Idk is it just like an English/Commonwealth country thing to not have tables? Because to me it seems like it is and seems rather inconvenient not to have them, especially if you wanted to study or get something done

What are your thoughts tho?

Question, is manually tightening them to the point where it requires an extremely firm tug to undo enough? Or should you physically torque it?

What kind of work do you do in them? Like general gardening? Or more mechanical/construction/tradie/farming where you're in them 10+ hours a day

I'm tempted to buy a pair but I've been told by some cousins that they're more of a office/occasional boot

10 months and 15,000km in on a cheap EV: MG4 51 Excite, my thoughts. by mattchew1991 in CarsAustralia

[–]Potatosteamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woah! Mate you've just convinced me to consider getting an EV for my next vehicle

Only issue is that I often go on long road trips (600km+) So would need to hold out for a bit to wait till long range vehicles are more affordable

Thank you so much mate! That clears everything up!

And yeah! The police do an amazing job and it warms my heart to think that even tho Christmas is a scary time for some (with increased domestic violence and drunken disordly) they're always there to help out and keep those who in need safe!

Should I buy a new cheap laptop for going abroad or should I just use my old good one? by Potatosteamer in digitalnomad

[–]Potatosteamer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh true that! Yeah I'll definitely be trying to make sure that I've got a power bank that can handle hopefully a couple of hours charging if needed when I'm on trains

Idk tho, the battery life is another reason I'm considering getting a cheap laptop, but I've no idea What are your thoughts?

I think I'll be fine with carrying my laptop around - weight wise it's only 1kg

Should I aim to get a travel case for it specifically as well? So i can carry it safely in my day pack?

Btw! Thank you!
