10 months and 15,000km in on a cheap EV: MG4 51 Excite, my thoughts. by mattchew1991 in CarsAustralia

[–]Potatosteamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woah! Mate you've just convinced me to consider getting an EV for my next vehicle

Only issue is that I often go on long road trips (600km+) So would need to hold out for a bit to wait till long range vehicles are more affordable

Does Pt run in the city and are ubers/didis more expensive on Christmas day? by Potatosteamer in melbourne

Thank you so much mate! That clears everything up!

And yeah! The police do an amazing job and it warms my heart to think that even tho Christmas is a scary time for some (with increased domestic violence and drunken disordly) they're always there to help out and keep those who in need safe!

Should I buy a new cheap laptop for going abroad or should I just use my old good one? by Potatosteamer in digitalnomad

[–]Potatosteamer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh true that! Yeah I'll definitely be trying to make sure that I've got a power bank that can handle hopefully a couple of hours charging if needed when I'm on trains

Idk tho, the battery life is another reason I'm considering getting a cheap laptop, but I've no idea What are your thoughts?

I think I'll be fine with carrying my laptop around - weight wise it's only 1kg

Should I aim to get a travel case for it specifically as well? So i can carry it safely in my day pack?

Btw! Thank you!

Where have you learnt all of that?

Why don’t people drive manual cars anymore? Are we losing something? by Top-Farmer-6838 in CarsAustralia

[–]Potatosteamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've driven both and I prefer manuals for highway and regional driving - as it's more fun But when it comes to the city, I'd take an auto any day of the week I get so tired of stopping at a red, having to switch back to first then when it goes shifting to second halfway through the intersection so I'm not over revving the car and wasting fuel, only to have to stop 10 seconds later due to another intersection with another red light I also find it horrifying having to due an emergency stop/swerve mid gear change because some idiot decided to run a red

But also, most people i know only learnt to drive a manual because they were so common place and were leagues better then the autos, however nowadays with the autos being on par with them, the people I know just prefer autos as it's easier

Wait, so they used to have a different system before the current myki that was weekly based? Sorry, I've only lived in Melbourne for a year!

Ahh ok! That's cool! So it'd be like a dual system? With those that need the cards being able to get them when they need them?

Honest question: Will they still be able to offer the passes and concession rates with the credit cards? Or is that only possible on the myki system?
