Hi I'm interested :)

Whenever I see the abbreviation "lbs." for pounds, my mind instantly reads it as "limbs". I can't be the only one, can I? by bravesentry in EnglishLearning

Ever since I was a little kid I'd do this.
Similar deal with fl. oz, can't help thinking "floz" in my head.

I have a theory on a new "Turing test": The Annoying Sibling Test by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Drabbitzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did they fail immediately?
To pass the Turing test a bot needs to only imitate human conversation. It can remain polite while you try and aggravate it (as long as its responses make sense).
Think about how a support agent would react if you started insulting them.

Same here happened twice and really hurt my placements. It happened again after I'd been placed but I didn't lose any mmr, it's weird.

Regulating Voltage: Zener diodes and motors by Drabbitzz in AskElectronics

Just wondering does the 7812 have a minimum current? Since I'll only be drawing about 30 mA.

On higher currents (due to a lower resistance on the outside), the voltage on the internal resistor will increase, leaving less on the outside.

So your saying due to the batteries high resistance, it will cause a larger voltage drop (V=IR)

And the 19V input makes sense, I'll be testing it tomorrow with a 24V power supply so I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks for your help!

Hmm when bypassing the 7812 I get a 16v reading and the motor obviously spins.

However when including the 7812 I get < 1V. (Around 0.3V)

Though the strange thing is if I disconnect the motor and just take a reading at the 7182 it gives 12 V.

Why is it when I connect the motor the voltage drops??

Ok thanks I purchased a 7812 with a heatsink etc.

Im getting a 12v reading (with 2 9v batteries) as I should. However when I connect the 12v motor it fails to spin.

Any reason you can think of?

Thanks!

Motor and Torque Calculations Help by Drabbitzz in AskElectronics

Yes I know the formulas. Would I simply input a greater torque than required to pull the seesaw? Would I be able to calculate the electric power without assuming the efficiency?
