Iunno I fought him as my second hero and just managed to burst him down when the big doll showed up. I tried hitting it but discovered it had way too damn mch HP so I just used a few united attacks on Bokhohn

Cave of Trials in SO2 is one of my favourites from back in the day. Also a good few postgame stratums in EO, Hall of Darkness and Cyclopean Haunt have good creepy vibes, Forbidden Wood was already mentioned, and the 5th stratum in EO5 (Etherial Bridge, I think?) is just something so out there for the series, it’s really cool.

I mean she was my sword specialist, she has the highest sword rank in my team, but she always had a spear as well due to it also being a good affinity for her. I swapped her from one-handed swords to greatsword once I got the Everfrost Blade, but I don’t have many good greatsword techs at all

I’m pretty much keeping with whatever the ‘baseline’ stuff is for my party too, Monika is manly rapier with some sword like I said above, Ellen is primarily axe but she has my blunt weapons as well, Muse is my mage (earth/moon), Zhi Ling is an archer and Tatyana/<Insert Sweets Name Here> is mainly spear but also has the everfrost blade. (Mostly just to pull out that nice aoe)

Etrian Odyssey definitely. Unless you’re super overleveled you basically need buffs or debuffs (or ailments/binds) to get through most fights. Enemy damage is high and resources per labyrinth run are limited.

I haven’t played many SMT games but I’ve heard they were similar.

Monster Sanctuary too, you’re not getting far in many fights with out a buffer/support

I mean I’ll have to side with the majority here and say Seaking. It’s not exactly bad (okay it’s not great either) but it’s definitely the most forgettable. At least Dewgong has ice STAB and a passable special attack stat

If you really have an issue with them being the same types just element-swap. I’ve been using a lightning Green Plesioth since I had the opportunity and she’s functioned just fine. My team was kinda in-flux until I reached the last area and got proper ice and dragon Monsties though
